Evening all, Rode Valks for 23 years but my back has gotten progressively worse over the years. I tried downsizing to a VTX 1800 but don't like twins and getting that sucker off the sidestand hurt worse than getting a valk turned around in a gravel parking lot. So I downsized again to a Rebel 1100 but feels like a scooter, can't get used to the absence of power and mass that the Valks provided so I'm looking at get a new 2014 Valk and triking it, but I don't want all the plastic that is on the Wing Trikes.
Can anyone recommend a good kit for the Valk that doesn't have all the plastic on it?
Thx.

Check with DFT (Darn Fine Trikes). Not sure they have a kit for the Valk frame. Maybe an F6B.

I've never even seen one of these, but I think they're cool...

There's a Jay Leno's Garage episode about them...

While I do agree that it's a cool and different concept, it still has a truck load of "plastic" that he wanted to stay away from.

I'm also not into all that plastic so when I went looking for my trike, I stayed with the original 1520 cc Valkyries.   Several Trike brands to choose from without all that plastic of GWs.   Really depends on what you want.   I've ridden the 1832 cc Valk and F6B.    No doubt a better performing bike, just not my style.
To each their own.

Makes me wonder if one could take that front end dark side.  Wink

a trike kit adds no plastic to you bike. with the exception of the rear fenders and body. the bike itself stays the way it is. from the swing arm back will be different..

Lot comes down to your budget.  If you are buying a kit and putting it on a bike you can save some money.  If you are buying a bike and having a kit put on it that is the most expensive Trike.  If you want a Solid rear axle then you can buy much older trikes.  A VTX 1800 with a trike it on it might get you want you want.  Not water cooled though.  Our experience with Trikes is that the Kit is the most important thing and if you have a rear passenger it really changes things.  Ebay, Facebook and craigslist are some good sites to look for a used trike.  Figuring out what you want and budget is a good starting point.  Good luck in your search.

I just searched for images of VTX 1800, and was wondering why they have a radiator on them if they aren't water cooled?
