Found yesterday cold, shivering, hungry and wet in the grass on the side of a 2 lane country road.

About 8 to 12 weeks old.

Not chipped. Collar tight enough to have cut into his puppy skin. Nothing between his skin and ribs

No name yet. Well, maybe, Fingal. Fingal is voted out of contention.

It's a Great Pyrenees. We'll need all the blessings we can get  Grin

He should weigh between 100 and 120 lbs.

He's already the boss of a rottie/husky mix who weighs 80lbs.

Took him on a walk yesterday and he was going to duke it out with a 150 lb Dogue de Bordeaux. No fear at all.

He's going to need some pretty controlled training and socialisation.

Looks very "Lab"-like! Look at the size of those feet!

If he is as much Lab as he looks, you've got a couple years of teething to get through...hell eat anything (ours ate 1/2 cord of firewood...and the air-conditioner...and the bbq grill.). Buy the "Lab-proof" "Kong" throw toy! Once you get through the two years they are fantastic dogs!

Looks like a great dog!

Yes, that is going to be a big dog.  If Pyr will be very mellow.  Get a cart  and teach him to pull it.  Great excersize for you and your new furkid.

That's very cool, Paul!
At one time I was living in the Olympic Peninsula area and the farm where I lived had, are you ready? 13, yep, 13 GP's living there too. My buddy started off with 3 and then, well, you know!
Just about the best dogs you can have in terms of attitude. That farm gave them plenty of elbow room so they got to run quite a bit. Get 'em on your side and NO ONE will ever mess with you (and get away with it).
I was told at the time that bears just don't want to take one on. These pups are REALLY big!
Good luck! cooldude

Great Pyrenees are great with kids, they are very popular with folks who keep sheep or goats because they hate coyotes and will kill everyone they see. They will also protect kids in the same way. They like to get up high so the can watch over the area. Thats a great find for you and I am sure he will become a part of te family.....

I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music.

Embarrassed  Embarrassed Paul, I got some splainin to do. Last nite when I opened this thread my PC had a brain fart or somethin'. While it was loading the pics, (dial up remember) it popped up the "do you want to reconnect" box. I clicked on yes. When it reconnected it went back to page !. I clicked on your post again and when it was thru loading the thread I ONLY HAD ONE PICTURE. It was the one of your pup lying on the floor. I wish I knew why this POS does things like that. I've been losing e-mails between my ISP and my PC. Anyway, that is why I said, "all I see is a dog layin' on the floor. I didn't revisit the thread or see your above reply 'til today. I came in about 11:30 and got your phone message. Wondered what you were talkin' about 'til I got back on the board. I apologize for the confusion. Both of your new friends are quite lovely old chap.
I was gonna return your call but I have misplaced your #. Would you e-mail or PM me your phone # again please ? I hope this explains my crazy comment.

Britman,
Great looking pup, there will be times you will think keeping him was a mistake, the above quote is right on, but don't forget the contents of that huge stomach have to empty and someone has to clean it up!

But it is all worth it (?) if you get a good one.

Good looking dog Britman.   Two years ago my neighbor got a Great Pyrenees pup, and would walk it everyday. In about six weeks the dog was walking him! That was the fastest growing dog I have ever seen. Good luck with him & bless you for taking him in.
