We left for The Tail of the Dragon before breakfast hoping to beat some traffic out of Roanoke.
Only made it to the southbound on ramp and my friend Kirk hit a slick, slid toward traffic, the tire grabbed a dry section of road and he high-sided.  Wing landed on his leg. I was leading and didn’t see it behind me. Got into traffic flow and saw he wasn’t behind me anymore. Pulled into the breakdown lane to let him catch up. A very nice woman stopped and asked if I was waiting for my friend….not a good sign…I said yes and she replied oh, he fell off his bike. DAMN!
I rode to the next exit, flipped around went back, flipped around again and got back to him.  Passersby had picked the bike up off him, and a nurse and an off duty EMT were with him. These 2 women were awesome! They stayed with him until the FD emts arrived.  I moved the bike into the breakdown lane and saw a good amount of oil pouring out from the left valve cover. The highway peg had twisted up and punctured the cover.  The Roanoke P.D. Agreed to let me get help to remove the wing.
I found Josh and his Dad Terry,  having breakfast, and they hooked up their trailer and we headed back to retrieve the bike.
Got it back to the hotel, they helped take the cover off, I went for JB Weld and they had a grinder to prep the area.
In the middle of this Josh helped someone with a flat tire on their trailer! Great young man right there!!
Anyhow, inside then outside of cover got JB Welded, gonna let it sit overnight and see if it’ll hold oil tomorrow.
Kirk has a swollen, black and blue knee, and some road rash on his leg, but he’ll be fine.  Can’t find a uhaul truck and trailer today to rent to get him and the wing home, hopefully tomorrow, if not, so long as it holds oil, we’ll ride north…
Thanks to Tanya on the front desk for the room, and keeping Kirk  supplied with ice for the knee.
Huge thanks to Kerry and Josh. They are what this club is all about!
Kerry, you set the bar high for your son, and he exceeds it. Great job sir!

Dang, hate to hear that, but glad it wasn't any worse!

I remember well the helpfulness of Inzane attendees in a time of need 2 years ago when Kali went down, and even last year when I had bike problems.....

Update us on how the JB Weld goes, I'm legit curious!

Safe travels all!

Oh man....THAT SUCKS.

I'm glad it wasn't any worse, it could have been really ugly.

I left around 1pm on Thursday. Of course it was raining, and the roads were pretty slick.

Talk to you later.

Oss, not me got a black I/S and my buddy was on a black wing.
Yes Jim, Josh and Terry, awesome people!
Yes, it could have been worse, he landed in the right travel lane and thankfully the traffic stopped.
Serk, we rolled out at 8 this morning, stopped twice the first hour checking for oil leaking. Bottom of valve cover is still dry!,

WOW, sorry to hear that happened to you guys. Very grateful it was not worse. The roads were very slick , even after all the rain. We had a number of riders experience mishaps. Glad there were good people to step up and help. Hope everything heals up quickly. Maybe someone has a valve cover to send ya.

Back home. No oil leaked at all!
JB Weld Hi-Temp is the winner!   cooldude
Kirk is going to his primary Dr. tomorrow, make sure all is good, then he wants a pair of chrome Valk valve covers for his wing.
Thanks again all who helped, especially Josh and Terry!
