For those not familiar, this road use to have the number 666. Too many signs were stolen so it’s now highway 191. Some of AZs finest roads.

While not exactly the same, in watching country music on YouTube and other places, I heard the song "Copperhead Rd".

It told the story of a young man who served in Viet Nam and his father and grandfather before him in rural Tennessee

The road the song was named for actually existed in Tennessee.  However, after the song became a major hit, the signs began to go away so they changed the name to CopperHead Hollow Rd.

I made a trip to see the road.  As I remember the signs was still there then, some 15 years ago.  But my memory is not what it use to be.  Should have taken a picture.  Oh well.

I lived in AZ back in the late 60's and early 70's.   I drove those highways a lot.  I had a '69 Camero, setup to drive.  I could go thru the Salt River canyon kind of fast.  Never went below 50 mph.  Hardest curve to drive thru was the one at the bridge.

Drove the Hwy from Show Low to Springerville many times also.   I had a friend, that had a Firebird, who got into a race with a kid with a new mustang on that road.  Yeah, I was sitting in a passenger seat.  He ended up saying enough is enough and dropped into 3rd gear (we were doing over 100 at the time) to blow the doors off the Sang.   Not sure how fast we were going but it was north of 160 mph.  Yeah, the Firebird had been modified a little.    Grin

Great road, I have been on it many times, I always ride it from the south to north direction, not sure why just always seem to be in the southern part of the state headed north.

I've been on Chrome road. signs are never touched, short 4-6 mile road off the beaten path. I guess motorcycle chromoholics don't know about it since the sign is always there.
