Meet in The Middle Ride 2023

Now that Inzane is over I will send out the "Early" invitations to this years Meet in the Middle Ride.

For those that don't know it is on Labor Day Weekend which this year will be September 2nd & 3rd.

Everyone meets up in Sparta, NC at the Alleghany Inn for a weekend of riding and tire kicking.

Be sure to tell them that you are a part of the "Meet in the Middle" ride. 



This ride started as a group ride with one group riding the BRP from the Northern end and another group riding the BRP from the southern end with both groups "Meeting in the Middle" in Sparta, NC.

In recent years it has became more of a ride in.

However, if enough people are interested in meeting in Waynesboro, VA on Friday September 1st and riding the BRP south to Sparta, NC on Saturday I'll be glad to lead the group down the BRP.

Never one much for 'long range planning' since retirement, I occasionally still find myself with obligations out in the mists of time... Things over which I have no control, but which simply cannot be missed. My Granddaughter is getting married to a really nice guy on September 2nd, and I can't miss that... Besides my own interest in being there, my daughter has informed me that my not being there would lead to an unspeakable outcome!

In my absence, feel free to blame me for anything you might need to... Guys do that for each other, ya know, especially for their already married pals...

I don't know about the Northern group but everyone else is riding in Friday September 1 . Take a group ride Saturday September 2 or go where you want. Come back to the motel Saturday evening and go home Sunday September 3. It's always been this way and it always will be . Many already have rooms booked myself included.

As a sort of off the topic note, we have included Galax, VA as an overnight stop on several of our rides.  I know we have been through Fries, VA but I don't remember the restaurant.  Will make sure we stop there next time we stop in Galax.

If you just ride through Fries on SR 94 you won't notice the restaurant.

As you come through look for Firehouse Rd and turn down it.

The front of the restaurant looks more like a small store than a restaurant.


It was very good food and the added bonus of the park on the river was nice!

You will need a reservation for Friday September 1 and Saturday September 2. Not the 3rd .
