My Gateway desktop PC recently has an issue starting up after being shut down. I usually don't shut it down but since we were gone for 2 wks. including IZ it was shut down. It wants me to insert boot media and hit any key. Well, the current OS is W10 and was done online via direct link with Microsoft shortly after W10 came out. At that time W10 was offered as a free download which means I have no boot disk. This is being typed on my laptop otherwise I'd be SOL. Any suggestions?

Had this problem some time back and mostly by accident rather than on purpose I got it to boot up. Once up and running, it works perfect and I'd like to keep it going. Just not sure of my next step, not looking forward to possibly unhooking everything to take the tower into a shop for service.

You should be able to create a boot disk (or boot USB drive) on another Windows 10 PC.

I'm working off my laptop at the moment so will look into that in the morning. It also has W10.

Well, I'm not having any luck. Since it's been a while since I've done anything like this I went on You Tube to see about a refresher. Everything I'm told should happen...doesn't. Only thing I've accomplished is to get more frustrated. Guess I'll have to unplug everything and take it to a shop. Kinda wish I hadn't turned it off when I left for IZ.
