Kill switch and high beam switches are known to gum up from the original grease. Take it apart, carefully, clean the contacts and light grease. Don’t grease the contacts themselves. There are plenty of threads and you tube  videos on doing this. Another issue it could be is the contacts in the ignition switch. Not as common but can happen.

Also, check your battery ground to frame for tight and corrosion.  And cable connections.

The kickstand kill switch can also act up.

If disassembling switches, use a clear bag large enough for your hands and tools, and do the work inside the bag. Much easier to find the spring you thought you had control of that way.

Great tip, it works well.

I had this problem once. It ended up being the ignition switch. PO had a large key ring that was used for many miles. The contacts had just had enough. I changed it out, never had another problem.

You said it died, but did it come back to life at all, then or now?

Every tip given are possibilities.

But I don't think the start switch is an issue, except while trying to start.

Side stand could be, I wonder if there is a bypass for it.

But most aren't issues while driving. But there is one that is, that's the main wire harness connector block. Mine was only an issue in the rain. Engine cuts out for a second, then runs again.

I've the how-to on fixing this if anyone wants it, just email me. Splice plug repair.
