anyone having or wanting to rent an ATV/UTV, I highly recommend in WI Weyerhauser to Birchwood called the Blue Hills ATV area in Rusk County.   Not technically difficult, but we did it all except 6-10 miles into Birchwood backtracking 96 total miles in 6 hours with a few stops along the way.  Beautiful scenery, well marked trails,  4-5 nice bathrooms along the trail and several miles of forest ATV routes if you so choose to open it up 50 mph vs. the 20-25 mph on the ATV trails.

Blue Hills in WI is, IMO, the most scenic, easy going, well marked ATV trail in the entire state.  Granted, is no Smoky Mountains or West Virginia ATV trails, but for WI is very nice.  There are more waterfalls north of there by Hurley, WI, but the ATV trails are not nearly as nice and scenic though as the Blue Hills in Rusk County.  Only part really now of the state of WI have not ATV ridden is Ashland/Bayfield county north of there but have looked on maps and prefer ATV trails vs. ATV routes of which Ashland/Bayfield has more routes, not trails, from what I can tell on the maps of those counties.

We ended up doing 400 miles total in 3.5 days on my can am 2-up ATV also staying 2 nights in Park Falls WI doing the Price county ATV trails of Flambeau, Flambeau river state trail, part of Tuscobia ATV trail, and the entire ATV trail, the most treacherous DEADHORSE run ATV trail from Camp Loretta parking lot 45 miles north all ATV trails to Clam Lake WI.  Avg speed all 45 miles thru the forestland was 13 mph took 4 LONG grueling hours 100's of swamp puddles and huge boulders/rocks to navigate around since only stock ATV has 10 or so inches of ground clearance is all.  Just glad only bottomed out my ATV on huge rocks 3x's that I was aware of and luckily no damage.  Will see this weekend once I attempt to clean the caked on mud going to 1st go over to powerwasher and get most of the crude off 1st before driving it back to home to handwash clean.    Also glad NOT much rain since a few inches over the 12 inch floorboards over 75x's in long mudpuddle pools was deep enough for me since seen dozens of tall boulders sticking out of the water puddles that had to avoid to not do damage to ATV underneath. (water term used loosely color of chocolate milk or green algae slime).

The wife on back after looking at the first BIG mudpuddle pool told me to turn around but was NOT doing that since was over halfway up to Clam Lake and determined to do it once in my lifetime all 45 miles ATV trails north to Clam Lake.  I advise anyone who wants a challenge to attempt DeadHorse run atv trail from Camp Loretta ATV parking lot off cty. GG, thru the woods, all the north to Clam Lake WI where about 2/3rds of the way is muddier/swampier/rockie by far.  To avoid that bad section,  can take forest road routes most of the way north to Clam Lake but those routes are actually forest roads that a normal car can drive on so not difficult at all doing 45 mph on them, until a deer (like 3x's happened to me) jumps out and almost hit them with ATV.

I refuse to bury my ATV to the racks some 2-3 feet deep if get to that water level,  I will turn around for fear of stalling and doubt can walk 10-15 miles thru bug infested forestland anymore to the nearest road that eventually will have a car on it to flag down for help.  Also have fear of 2 foot boulders going thru that stuff since cannot see 1 inch into the water at all and ruining my ATV.

Wife was very disgruntled at me her on back seat bumping around 45 miles at 12 mph taking 4 LONG hours to Clam Lake WI.  I asked a local if we could take cty GG main paved road back 22 miles and he said YES.  Wife was super pleased not have to go back 45 rough atv trail miles or about 65 miles of ATV routes.     I do not think she woulda made it back thru the ATV trails since driving and controlling an ATV is much more controlled/forgiving on the body, than the passenger sitting on back higher up even with separate footrests and handholds.

I asked the wife driving home today if she wanted to do the 25 mile ATV loop off I-90 by Black River Falls south to Millston WI since have not done that in years and driving right by it.  She gave me the shittiest look EVER.    Angry                400 miles in 3.5 days, for me, is impressive driving about 380 of the 400 total miles letting the wife drive to rest my right thumb for throttle.

To make this thread Valk related, well sort of,  is a sad year indeed for riding on my 3 cycles all this year so far is about the same mileage of 400 miles in 3.5 days is all of ATVing up north.   3rd day out entire this year a month ago on my suzuki burgmann got flat from metal screw and there it sits still flat in my garage not riding/not fixed.    Cry
