The Dallas group is having a wrench party Saturday and I'm trying to solve a 15 mpg problem by replacing the petcock and vacuum lines on a 03 std. I have the petcock but have to get the lines.  Can anybody tell me if those lines are molded for the valk or can I purchase hose from an auto parts store?  If so, what size are they and how many inches/feet do I need to get?  Thanks for any suggestions. Your auto parts store should have packs of 5/32" vacuum/washer hose.  I believe they are 6ft long.  That is enough to do the bike and then some.  The factory tubes are pre-molded but you don't have to.  Oh...the auto parts tubing has a larger outside diameter than the stock tubes so you can't use the stock clips to hold them on.  I don't have anything holding my tubes on...they fit over the fittings tightly and haven't let go.  Hope this helps.

Don't know if this is soon enough, but there is a fellow Valk rider (Red Eye Rich) that sells 'de-smog' kits, and replacement hoses for the Valk, made from Viton-B tubing...  These will probably never need to be replaced, as they are impervious to just about everything the atmosphere can throw at 'em...

He's a great guy to do business with, and like I said, a fellow Valker.

Yes, and he does an interesting thing with the hoses he supplies. Each hose has an internal semi-rigid plastic small diameter hose included inside the outer hose. This feature eliminates the problem experienced with the stock hoses, namely collapsing of the hose, stopping flow. Redeye hoses if collapsed will still flow due to the inner line.

Get rid of the vacuum lines all together.  DESMOG!!  Convert your petcock to manual operation.

Thanks for all your input.  Changed the petcock/screen, vacuum lines to the valves and the petcock, and the air filter while she was apart.  Went from 15 mpg to 32 mpg immediately. Nice to be associated with guys who know what the #$% they are doing. L

The increase in gasoline mileage should be attributed to one, or both,  of two things.

1) Clean air filter, although I can't even imagine how blocked an air filter would have to be, to play that big a role.

2) The new petcock. This is my favorite candidate for you poor mileage. Leaking diaphragm allowing fuel to be drawn into the #6 cylinder via the vacuum line.

15 mpg.  I can't even imagine that!!

My first thought were big mains had been installed!
