G’day team

Last week i went to take the valk out

Flat,,,,,,  no juice ,,,,,,  dead battery

How rude !!

Ok so its not done that before ,

I banked it for the weekend

Tried to get her going with a whack pack,

Nothing

Ok how hard can it be

Removed the hot wires from the battery

Fuses

Main 55a fuse ,, gone
15 amp Audio gone
Main 30 gone

Thats odd

Ok so replaced and fired it up

No stereo,, but,,,

Run a good load of miles on it and got a good charge on the battery again

Today

Audio 15 amp gone

Removed the clarion unit

Contact cleaned plugs

Plugged in the green multi pin,
Ok
Plugged in the blue multi pin
Pop
Another 15 amp

So i am assuming i have a dead short in the clarion unit or the blue multi pin

Any on any idea ?

Got a feeling the blue goes up to the dash and aux controls

Sorry I don’t have a simple answer,  it check the wires running up to fairing. Did the seat or tank pinch a wire somewhere or maybe up by the neck. Is Alternator not exceeding 14.5v. With all those fuses blown at once, I would say something got pinched and released when you pulled seat, move handle bars or a side cover? How’s the connection on the staring relay?  Hopefully someone will chime in with something better. Good luck.

Starting relay is ok,
Also
Forgot to mention,
Driving light relay had fallen apart, not sure how relevant
Other thing is the audio harness was popping fuses even with the ignition off

Well

Tank off this morning,  there is nothing visible in the wiring harness,  so maybe the dash,,,,

Open too suggestion ,,,,

Note that with the audio system disconnected no running or charging issues remaining

Has anyone got an OEM audio system / dash for sale ?

I will pull the dash apart on the weekend ,,,, no time left today

Nothing in the wiring harness exploration today

Next weekend ill pull down the dash board and see if there is any thing in there,

There are a few clues in the manual ,  slow work

Just as well it is winter ‍️ Huh? Cheesy

But grateful its a runner as it is !

Not sure what the blue and green plugs are:  speakers, power, antenna, etc?   But i'd start by going through with a voltmeter, check the plugs, particularly the outputs to see if they have 8 ohms, etc, or if they're shorted to ground.    Sounds like the power is good, but check it anyway, you might find something.
Check the unit without the speakers connected for a few seconds.  Does it blow the fuse then?   If you could rig up a speaker-test output from a portable radio etc, you could see if one of the speakers is dead, therefore maybe shorted somewhere.

Had every thing off both ends of the stereo system
There is 12 volts coming back down two lines, key off,

Need to pull the tank tomorrow and hunt for a pinned wire
