I check back on the Next Door site from time to time...seldom post. Until now!

The particular site I look at is back in Florida where people often will ask for suggestions re. various services such as an electrician, plumber, etc. Recently someone asked for recommendations for a pest control service based on personal experience, stating they had to get them out of the house ASAP. My answer was really quite simple; "I just let mine grow up and go away to college, then moved while they were gone!"

Based on various responses, some folks just don't appreciate clean humor.

RJ had you beat by a country mile.

As soon as a kid left for school he knocked down a wall and made his bedroom larger until he had a 1 br house with giant walk in closet etc   

Then he would pay my tab up front for 1 nite when I visited at the microtel down the street (I always paid for dinner and drinks tho)

Some people just don't have any sense of humor.


That's actually my wife and I's plan for when we retire.

We're selling the house, moving away and not giving the kids our new address.

We'll give it to our grand daughter but she'll be sworn to secrecy.

Saw some old friends with kids our kids age once....asked them if they were empty nesters yet.....they replied that no they were not empty nesters but that they were "boomerangers".....threw the kids out and they came back.

Kids all moved out but come back most Sundays for Lunch along with 4 dogs our grand-kids and now our first great grand-son. Best day of the week!

That wouldn't work for me. Four daughters gave me 17 grandkids, and of those GK's they gave me 17 great grandkids...so far. Not counting any pets, that means we'd have to rent a local theatre which I can't afford on fixed income.

Naw, I trained them right. Don't expect anything from gramps on those days, including an inheritance unless I win the lotto. In that case I'll buy you all a new set of tires for your car.

Our kids grew up in Wyoming, after they left home (told them to get out of Wyoming and they listened) we moved to CA then to OR.  They did find us, but we have a home with limited space, so no returning home except for a few days to visit. Thankfully all three of the girls have good jobs, so don't need to come to live with us.  Not only do they have good jobs but make more money than we do, so we may need to go move in with them.
