Bike was lacking a bit of power and idle dropped down to 500rpm.
Tiny bit of deposit in the rank which I cleaned.
Air filter only 5000 moles and looking like new.
Took the carbs out and cleaned the jets but they were good anyway. Little bit of sediment in a couple of bowls.
All float needles good and working.
Put all back together. Took for a ride then digitally synced the carbs and they're all spot on.
I seem to have plenty of power. Very good acceleration but sort of feel that the sound is not right.
All hoses and vacuum caps newish and sound.
Plugs iridium and gaps checked.
Sounds as if there's a minute bit of "missing" somewhere.
Any thoughts you can offer and pinpoint to something?
Started to wonder if there actually is a problem or possibly a couple of percent of one.
Sorry to be vague.
Obviously,  initially there was but I've done a lot to try to sort it.

I’ve heard from a few people that the factory plugs are the way to go. Some of the higher performance ones don’t work right in our bikes. Cheap easy to try. I personally never tried anything but stock.

I've still got the previous, which I put in for around 1000 miles. Will try those and see if there's a difference.
There could well be a very slight blockage in just one of the jets somewhere, which is actually what it feels like.
I've put some carb/fuel injector cleaner in the tank this afternoon to see if that helps.

Run a compression and leakdown test on all the cylinders.

I haven't done much since my last post as, since it's my wedding anniversary, I've been on my best behaviour and doting on Mrs Knapdog,  as opposed to the "fat lady", and treated her to a fine meal out at a local Inn ( a lie.... she treated me).
I took the iridium out and replaced with my nearly new NKG standard plugs with .035" gaps.
As soon as I started her up she had a little backfire (never known before) from the left exhaust but seemed to be idling very sweetly ( the fat lady, not Mrs Knapdog) and smooth on the throttle.
I have a new cbr600 petcock instead of Vacuum related oem. I ALWAYS turn it off.
The only other thing I did was tighten some of the exhaust studs up around 1/32 of a turn, if that,  which is hardly anything.
Looking forward to taking her out in the morning.  It's now 10pm here and ready for bed. I'd forgotten it was our Anniversary when I woke up this morning but that's another story.

Right, it feels sorted.
Standard plugs now in with .035" gap. I've double checked the tightness of air intakes, exhaust studs etc.
All is well, particularly with the Kuryakyn 4050 highway pegs fitted as well for the first time.

best to gap plugs are 0.031. the coils are marginal for any thing more.

mod to do is cut back the side electrode so it is half way over the center electrode and round off the end.

Appreciated.  Thank you, but could you elaborate a bit more about cutting back the side electrode  please?
Do you mean the top bendy bit that curls over?
..... and sawing  a bit off so the end us in line with the middle of the centre electrode?

Furthermore, I discovered I'd pinched two of the air box "legs" where they fit around the back on the intakes.
At last it's breathing properly.
