The info is available on other websites as well.

You might want to stock up on your favorites before they get pulled.

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/09/fda-panel-rules-that-popular-decongestant-found-cold/

“… readers at some point have used products such as Benadryl and DayQuil to relieve symptoms caused by a cold or the flu. Now these and other popular medicines could soon be unavailable at stores nationwide thanks to a ruling today.”

“The Associated Press reported that one of the agency’s panels voted unanimously Tuesday against the effectiveness of an ingredient called phenylephrine. As the Daily Mail notes, phenylephrine is the most common active compound in over-the-counter drugs like Benadryl Allergy Plus Congestion, Sudafed PE, and Tylenol Cold and Flu Severe Day & Night.”

“The drug is also found in Allegra and Dayquil as well.”

“Oral phenylephrine is broken apart in the gut, which allows the medicine to enter the bloodstream. From there, the drug enters the nose.”

And the article continues on…

Dayquil, for example, contains: Each pill contains 325 mg of acetaminophen, 10 mg of dextromethorphan, and 5 mg of phenylephrine.

The FDA has determined that phenylephrine is a no-op.

I think acetaminophen is a no-op.

Yes basically the news reports say that the FDA was wrong when they authorized the sale and use of these drugs originally but you can guarantee that the FDA is correct now.

And yes, these OTC drugs that we all have used over the last what, ten years and have seemed to work, will no longer be able to be purchased, if the process goes forward as expected.

Wonder who benefits from that???????

Another headline:

Common decongestant that you’ve probably taken when sick doesn’t actually work, FDA experts say

I'd say that the drug companies who make the newer much more expensive allergy pills that don't contain phenylephrine will be the biggest benefactors.

I wonder if the "Big Guy" gets 10% ?

Ten years ago when they stopped using  pseudoephedrine and started using phenylephrine,
everyone hated phenylephrine. Now they've determined that, while phenylephrine is good
for hemorrhoids, it really doesn't do much for nasal congestion. I guess it is fun to have the
opinion that those lying pocket-liners will take my phenylephrine from my cold dead hands,
but more importantly you can still get the pseudoephedrine kind from behind the counter
if you ask, and it probably really works  cooldude ...
