I Am A Helmet....

May have posted this before. Cant remember. My Uncle Hiram Bice was a big time motorcycle rider all his adult life. Rode BMW's. Traveled all over the USA on motorcycles. Was a member of the BMW Club of Houston for many years. He wrote this article and put it in the BMW magazine. I thought it was pretty coooool.

T….let me tell you about myself.

I have seen the trees of the Carolinas dressed for Fall…

I have crossed The Father of Waters many times in many places…

I have seen many sunrises on a Florida Beach….and had crawfish and beer spilled on me in Breaux Bridge
and Saint Martinville.

I have crossed the Tropic of Cancer South of Ciudad Victoria, Mexico, and sat under a lemon tree around a Pool with good and true friends drinking Bohemia.

I have been in The Garden of the Gods and over Wolf Creek Pass and did my 1,000 mile day with a hangover.

I have crossed the plains of western Texas and seen the snow of Ruidosa.

I have traveled Oak Creek Canyon south of Flagstaff and seen the hundreds of years of gross indignation in the eyes of the Apache, Navaho, and Hopi.

I have seen the look in my owner’s eyes early one morning in Grants, New Mexico while looking at a 5 yr old Indian boy, a REAL American, who would never have the chance to be a “real American”…and it hurt.

I have been up and down the steep hills of San Fransisco and crossed the Golden Gate… saw the leggy young things on Hollywood Blvd and stood on the Sidewalk Of The Stars and said “God Bless You John Wayne”

I have been down the road with with Ron and Dorothy, and Richard, and Floyd, and Doyle, and Les, and Mary and Paul and Betty and Ray and Barbara and Carlos and a hundred more. Sometimes were better than others, but there was never a bad time.

I have caused many family feuds and near divorces.

I have also caused much happiness….

And when you stop and think about it…isn't that what life should be about?…Happiness?
