Took a little jaunt into WV on Saturday.
I decided to make the New River Gorge Bridge my destination.
This was the first time that I'd been there since it receiving designation as a National Park.
Either lots of others were like me and just out enjoying the nice weather or being designated as a National Park has greatly increased the number of people frequenting the park.
I suspect that it was a combination of the two.

View of the bridge from the upper overlook:

You can walk down and see the bridge from a much closer vantage point. But, I decided that walking down the steps meant walking back up them.
Besides, there's a much easier way to get a closer look at the bridge.
If you've never taken the road that goes down into the gorge across the old bridge and back up the other side, you should.
It lets you experience the gorge and the bridge from several different perspectives:

After leaving the gorge I decided to find the location where Hank Williams Sr was discovered to have died.
I knew that it was on SR16 and that I had likely ridden bit on multiple occasions but I didn't know where it was exactly.
A quick Google search pointed me in the right direction.

The empty lot across the street from the memorial is where the gas station was that his driver discovered that he had died:

Exactly where he was at his moment of death will never be known.
He was pronounced dead at Oak Hill Hospital.
I'm not sure where it was in 1953, but the current day hospital is only about 100 ft from where the gas station was.
I made it home just after dark.
I had travelled a mere 350 miles, but it was some much needed "Wind Therapy"!
