It's the bar located under the trunk and the radio antenna mounts on one end and the CB antenna on the other. Mine has two helmet locks attached which I can't use since it's on a trike and there's no room for them to hang there. I need to remove those locks but I'll be darned if I can see how. I have some small but bright red lights that come on and alternate when braking. I used to have them on my Tourer, located between the saddle bags and the rear fender, held in place by the top rear bag bolt. I'd slip them in between the rubber grommet & bag where the little bolts go through to the bag mount. If I can figure out how to remove the helmet locks on the I/S trunk, I'll devise some new mounting brackets and bolt them where the locks came off. Hope I don't have to remove that antenna mount to do it.

I took those locks off my Interstate years ago.  Dammed if I remember anything about it (except it was tricky).

Engine guard section shows the helmet locks.

The radio has the antenna mount.

If I recall, they are attached with one 4mm bolt,, but it has been awhile since I've had them off so I could be mistaken.

Isn't the head of that bolt inside the crossbar so that one has to take off the trunk to get to it?

Mine have been relocated because of my horn, but I believe you are right, just one bolt attaches each lock.

With the trunk setup I'm looking at (now resting on my Tourer) the locks are retained by security bolts. These are double-headed: The compression section is rounded, and the tightening section was of a profile that a tool (probably a hex socket) could tighten the fastener.

Notice I say "was". The bolts were designed with a breakaway-at-torque section. The assembler tightened the bolt until the little stems broke, and they were both relatively secure from theft and torqued to the correct values.

A needlenose Vise-Grip gets them loose if desired. Hard to do with everything together, so the concept fulfilled its objectives.

Sounds like too much work. I personally am lacking in a number areas, one happens to be ambition at the moment, otherwise I'd be crawling around out in the garage swapping out the engine with the Wing unit with reverse. I need to do that now before it gets too cold, meaning I have maybe three weeks.  Angry

I'd be willing to sell the lights for a few $$. You want a picture...let me know.
