If you still have the middle section I don't see why it's necessary to buy the entire rear turn signal unit.

The turn signals go on like so. The license plate bracket is bolted to the middle section.

Your bike, but I highly suggest you loosen the fender bolts a little before reinstalling the hatch.

The hatch bolts screw into plastic posts and any obstruction might damage the 20 year old posts which are simply thickened with fins. The threads won't strip out,
but the brass insert might tear out of the plastic post. This happens if the hatch gets hung up on the rubber gasket. You need some wiggle room to get the
hatch seated pass the thickness of the rubber gasket. The rubber gasket might skew the post such that screws going perpendicularly up don't match up with the
angle of the post. The wiggle room won't exist if the middle section is bolted tight to the fender. The sequence is subtle but if you break the plastic post it's an
extra job fixing it. A cracked post won't be visible with the hatch on and may even feel okay.

Dotted area is where the hatch gets hung up against the rubber gasket. Very slightly but enough to misalign the screw to the plastic post.

Studs on the back of the middle section to connect it to the fender.
