It doesn't cost a penny to be a member and the discount card works at lots of hotel motels. I use mine all the time and I still have my own opinions. Just like this reply...
It's free money, take it.

Uh, free? Hmm? The letter I got says $16 for one year $43 for 4 years. There are other options. I'm not willing to fund a lobbyist group that votes against me.

I'm 99% sure we never sent a penny to them. I may be wrong as my "people" handles that stuff. I'd still pay that though as I've saved that in a weekend easily paying for motels. It seems AARP card is all I can get a discount with now days.

AAA has been good to us. Discounts, towing and roadway assistance, on the trucks bikes and trailers.

Yep, couldn't agree more. Agreed! My invites go in the trash. And the thing is, I am sure that many members do not agree or even know of their politics.... run by socialist business managers who act "in the old folks best interests."

I've gotten 2 in the last month. They must smell an aging body. I just put all my other junk mail in their paid envelope and send it all back to them. Let them pay to take care of the trash I didn't ask for.

I was a member for some years and knew about their antigun bias. In fact I wrote them about it. I'm no longer a member. They came out for the Obama Health Care Bill inspite of the 500 billion in Medicare cuts. Their CEO contributed towards Obama's campaign, Their Execurive Board endorsed the Health Care Plan despite senior objections and they sell health insurance. Bastard liberals and money grabbers. Yeah, they charge dues too!

I did just like Jeff K......also Im not a HD rider(no Hog pin) but I am retired military. For years, way before I turned 50...anytime I checked into a hotel Id start by asking if they give military discounts. Thats starts a whole comparison of what the biggest discount is...I always got offered the choice between the military, the AARP or (at Days Inn) the Hog discount which, BTW is the largest discount of them all (25%) if memory serves. I just make it a point to go in the lobby with some biker gear on so they know I rode in. Also I always ask if theres a covered spot I could stash the bike....I have never been turned down on that one either...........Ill pass on the membership to AARP

Let them pay to take care of the trash I didn't ask for. I do the same. I resend all I get with return envelopes. Helps out the U.S. Postal and maybe they won`t raise rates so soon.

I pay about $700 annually for two automobiles (full coverage) through AARP. I frankly don't give a *&%# about their politics and if you didn't do business with anyone that lobbies against your political views in Washington, park your bike and car and everything else you use and enjoy.

It is better to send all thier junk back in their business reply envelope, include some other junk mail if you like, that way it costs them. I think we could reduce our carbon footprints and prevent the global warming our southern brothers and sisters are suffering from by eliminating ALL junk mail. My $0.02.
