I'm planning on putting some new tires on my 97 this winter. Last time I did the same I noticed some slight scoring on a composite/nylon washer, wasn't bad so I put it back in with a mental note to replace next time.
I'm looking for it now and can't find it in the parts diagrams. If I recall correctly it was located on the driven flange, I see it in the service manual but not in the parts diagrams for order. I think it is identified below as "washer".

I don't see it in either the final drive or rear wheel parts diagrams. I should probably just wait until tomorrow and look again, probably right in front of me but thought I'd ask if anyone knows the p/n.

Also just felt like posting, haven't been here in a while...and while I'm here.

Weather here last Saturday was amazing for late October, near 80* and sunny. As luck would have it we had our end of the season ride planned with a couple of my brothers, some friends, my son and some of his friends. Just under 340 miles through western MA and CT.

50 years or so of riding and nothing compares to multi-generational rides.

You're after a Thrust Washer I think: 42616-MAJ-G20

It goes up inside the flange to fit where the flange sits
on the wheel. It prevents metal on metal contact there I
guess...

Picture #15 in this write up (http://www.valkyrieriders.com/shoptalk/rear_end_service.pptx)
shows the thrust washer in place..

That's it, thanks Mike! Other side of the flange, still don't see it in the parts diagram but it's ordered.
Excellent PP presentation.

Thanks again,
Matt

Rear wheel parts, look at item #5:

It's used on a couple of other Honda models also.

Haha... I couldn't find it in the picture either. I clicked on your link,
and looked again - there it is. Talk about an exploded diagram! The thrust washer
is exploded all the way to the other side of the page from the
flange :-) ...

I looked at that drawing and didn't spot the thrust washer. I came back to it and looked through the parts list for it. I've looked at that kind of drawings for over 25 years. The placement isn't the best but the shown size is about 1/3 size I thought it should be. I would hazard a guess that the guy that drew that page had no idea of the size of the "washer".
