I am planning on a transformation of the rear of my bike. I will be putting hard bags on and I will be mounting stop/tail lights on the rear of the bags. I would love to take the turn signals off the license plate bracket to clean up the look.

My question is;
Can I remove the yellow turn signals, and incorporate them into the lights that I put on the bags?

I plan on using a light assembly that utilizes the 1157 bulb, so that won't be the issue, what I need to know is: If I wire the turn signal wire into the tail/stop/running light that I mount, will I need to do some special wiring? Or will just running the turn signal wire into it allow it to flash for a signal.

If special wiring is needed and someone has already done it, a wiring diagram would be very helpful.

Thanks

You will be changing the turn signal into turn & stop.  I did it with relays, one for each side.  The relay is used to select which circuit to feed into the brake filiment.  The trigger is taken from the front running light, which is normally on, until the turn is selected that side. So when the trigger is powered (closed), you have the relay selecting the brake circuit to the bulb - and when it's open, the turn circuit is selected.  This requires a 5-pin relay with normally-closed and normally-open pins (not two pins the same in a Y-harness).  See my write-up and circuit at http://www.horseapple.com/Valkyrie/Tech_Tips/VTX_signals/vtx_signals.html The circuit diagram shows the circuit just for the brake filiment.  Of course, with 1157 bulbs, you would connect the running light circuit to the running light filiment - and not do the part on the left side, with the resistors, and omit the diodes.  Here's the circuit again:

You can use a trailer wiring converter as noted here: http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,7425.msg62209.html#msg62209
