We enjoyed it. During a replay review my wife commented "These reviews are probably done at the Pentagon". Well, a couple of them were lenghty. Glad we watched it to the end.

I watched too.
So much history and pageantry with this game, but aside from extreme effort and a few great plays, it is never very good football. Of course these guys are all going to serve in uniform, and not the NFL (five years on active duty, plus three as inactive reserve after service academy graduation.).
I'll tell you who I do like; Gary Danielson, the former Detroit Lions quarterback.
He is a great college football announcer and a real student of the game. He's never full of hype and hyperbole like so many announcers are now. He's the real deal and I hope he hangs around.

5 years if you're not in Aviation (flying) - then it's 8 eight years (min) after wings.

Active Duty Service Commitments, based on paid-for education and training is a fair trade.
In the USAF, academy grad's most sought after career path is in fighter aircraft.
But everyone can't get them, so many end up in tankers and trash haulers, large multi-engine jets. (They all have to go into some kind of combat arm career field after academy graduation, not into supply or computers or personnel, yada).
There's not a big civilian market for fighter pilots (though they can transition), but multiengine jumbos rule the airline industry, so that is where most multi-engine military pilots go after service.
Based on the additional required years of training (and to keep them from running off to lucrative civilian careers) pilots have the longer active duty service commitments.

I did not know, until after the game, that the Navy's Helmets and Uniforms were designed to recognize the U.S. Submarine Force (Silent Service).
Here is an article about this and a YouTube video below showing the uniforms.

One of the advantages I had, during my time in the U. S. Navy, was being stationed on an aircraft carrier and then, my final service destination, a Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarine. The series Silent Service on TV in the late 50's was one of my favorites.

It takes balls to go under the ocean in a long tube for long periods of time.
I've been in a museum submarine (in Chicago as a child), but I don't want a real ride.
My backseat ride in an F16B model was the bomb (of a lifetime), and I tried hard to get in the back of an F4 Phantom (but no joy).
