I have had a parasitic draw for a long while

Finally traced it (well I think so as I pulled the fuse) to my fog lights circuit and ordered a new waterproof switch which is on the way.  The old switch is in the left pod. My kury volt meter in the right pod.

I am pretty certain that is the culprit as the battery has NOT gone dead since the last time I charged it
(about 3 weeks)   It was taking a bit over a week to draw dead and this is my 3rd battery in so many years

Took off the 3 bolts (2 small and one longer) and quickly determined that WTF there is a 4th bolt on the bottom with less than an
inch clearance to the valve cover

My smallest hex key with long and short end will not fit

On the plus side I got my first ride in of 20 miles in many many months on that bike before the rain came and it will be a toad strangler tonite and tomorrow

Where do you get a hex small enough to get that bolt out?  or how else to you solve the issue of removing that pod?  Anyone want to come to ossining for a bottle of scotch and help out?

Oss. That bottom screw close to the valve cover does not need to be removed on my I/S. MINE HAS A RUBBER GROMET INSIDE.  just pull out gently and it should pop  off. Good luck buddy.

you da man !  figures that a man who can change an interstate headlight bulb one handed while drinking a beer in LaCrosse can get me thru this one

I finally got that pod off (after about an hour of not so patient swearing) and cut the wires

now to wait on that switch and hope that was the problem.  Will solder and shrink wrap it when done

Oss

But I bet it is harder to seat that damn pod what with the baker air wings on it than it was to remove
Iffn I get the bike together you will have that scotch and Ross you too

Oss, I recently change my sparkplugs.  It's been a while since I took the pods off.  I too unscrewed the screws that didn't need to be removed.   BUT the reinstalling the pods too a bit to get the rod in the grommet.  I did offer some new word to the world.

Well if you saw me at Inzane you know I got it together with some help from a client

A new switch for the fog lights and the fuse for the clock is out (removed by me)

She ran like a champ to Dubuque -Indianapolis to home just around 2500 miles

when I turn on the bike there are still some lights in the display fm side but clock is out which is fine by me    I dont need to know the time, if I am tired I stop and walk around anyway

Anyway I started the dragon up after mowing the lawn this morning and she purred  like a happy dragon
so the battery drain issue is isolated and inert at least for now

Great seeing all of youse at IZ

Too hot and humid to ride so I am goin in the pool at 915am  lol

well there is a fog light in the pod so I guess on that wire

It was my version of an idiot light. if its on I know my fog lites are also

It saved my bacon when the alternator crapped out 20 miles from home maybe 5 yrear ago?
I disconnected the headlight fuse and made it almost home to a gas station 3 miles away, I always have a charger in the saddlebag and plugged in at the ice machine for an hour then rode the rest of the way home on my fog lites which are led
