So it was time to replace my battery and of course I went online and began shopping.  The more I shopped the more braindead I became.  I entered my 1997 1500C for fitment and was surprised at the results.  I noticed the the sizes of the batteries that were listed as fitting a V 1500 varied a bunch.
So I went to my bike and measured the battery box 6inch wide, 3.5inch deep and max 4.5 inch tall.
Now for the crazy part Ebay shows Shorai LFX27L3-BS12 as fitting but it is 6.1 inches tall, they show the pricey Antigravity AGX12 as fitting but it is 5.1 inches tall or the Banshee 14-BS as fitting and it is 5.7 inches tall ; all incorrect.  So I tried Amazon and they show the Skyrich HJTZ14-s as fitting and it does , but Amazon then shows the NOCO NLP9 as not fitting but it has the exact size of the Skyrich and they say does not fit.
Well my point is do not trust the fitments on these sites!!  Verify your box size and then review dimensions.
I ended up with the NOCO NLP9 it has 400 CCAs was a great lithium under $100.

I have searched for batteries on line a couple times. I find if you use the part number of the OEM battery. Something like BS14 you usually get a compatible result. The  number is the key. 9=NO. 12=NO. 14 cooldude

I think you’d be better off with the NLP 14. I also think some of the confusion in size. The lithium batteries are all small in height, and come with spacers to raise to the appropriate height. Or you can add your own spacer.

Walmart. BS-14. $70 or so.  Your alternator has been overworking for some time. It’s not good to push Valkyrie batteries that far unless you like getting new alternators.

I used the 2 amp setting on my charger as 1.4 amp was recommended. And no .750 amp tender doesn't do the job.   Roll Eyes  Grin

You have me recalling an episode of Orange County Choppers where Junior is placing a too-tight a fit battery into its case using a wood block & hammer. Dude?! The poor bastard who had to swap it out years later...

...Back before I bought my first Valk in the late 90,s I was riding my fathers GW after he past.
I needed a battery so I went to a Honda Dealer in the next town over to buy one. Place was owned by a surly individual named Steve. His brother worked in parts and sold me a new battery. After I got it home and went to install it I noticed that he had sold me the wrong battery. The terminals for the GW were on the side and the battery he sold me had top mounted terminals. So I called the shop and Steve answered, and I told him his brother had sold me the wrong battery. He was immediately defensive to the point of being rude as he insisted it was the right battery. So I drove over and showed him the battery, it was obviously the wrong one. He grumbled a bit as he exchanged it and I just chalked it up to doing business with him. About a month later I was cruising around on my fathers Wing and decided to stop in his dealership and have a look round. I knew just about everyone that worked there and was chatting it up with the parts guy when he says.....did you hear what happened to Steves brother ?  I replied no and he said....Steve fired him for selling you the wrong battery ! I felt bad because that seemed kind of harsh to me, but I didnt care for Steve that much anyway so I just shrugged. The Valks came out a while after that and when I finally had the money I made sure to go to another Honda Dealer to buy my new Interstate. About a month after that Steve was having an Open House showing off the new model bikes and I pulled up on my new black Interstate that I made sure was shining like a mirror and parked it right by the front door and was leaning on it shooting the breeze with someone when suddenly Steve came hurriedly walking by. As he walked by his attention was suddenly focused on my new gleaming State and he looked at me and didnt say a word and went inside.  Cool
