That is very impressive and it is an excellent way to teach the importance of "helping others".   

Back in the day, several youth organizations did similar things (though not as relevant (only word I could find mental) to the need).

It would have been something I would have expected the Boy Scouts to be part of.  Something that our Church Group (Luther League) would have been part of. 

I will see if I can bring it up at our local Town Council meeting.
