I bought this from a buddy for next to nothing.  I could sell the gas tank for what I paid.

My brother and I talked our Mother into to co-signing loans to buy 2 of these bikes in 1971 from Menard Honda in Chicopee, MA.   To this day don't know how we did it.  I think we just wore her down.

First new vehicle ever.  We rode them a lot and I ending up trading mine in for a 250 Elsinore around 1974.

Anyways, she's mostly there with a seized engine. Unfortunately, a PO painted the tank and the one side cover fire engine red.  The other side cover is MIA.

Next winters project.

I like your Mom.  cooldude

I talked my Dad into my first bike. A Suzuki 90. He never rode bikes, and didn’t care for them at all. But, he saw how much I wanted one. I had saved my paper route money for a year and had $375. He put up the rest. As I was the oldest child, this turned into a loose family directive. Each kid would pay half of their first vehicle and he paid half. After that we were on our own. And so began my love affair with motorcycles.  Smiley

Looks like a cool project. I usually try and find a donor bike for those hard to find expensive parts. Enjoy.

You might try filling the cylinders with a 50/50 mix of ATF and Acetone.  Let it soak for a few weeks and it should free it up.

Yeah, as far as Mom's go, she was alright Smiley  Your dad taught responsibility and the value of money while helping you achieve a goal.

Awesome job.  cooldude
