I used to be a VSG member, and was on the VRCC board long ago (#5923 ). I have a friend that just took his first MC course, is newly licensed, and wants to rent a bike.  Can you guys recommend a place in DFW?

I sold my Valk, but may want to rent one (I guess it'd be hard to rent a Valk, so I won't be picky) too and join him on a ride.

Thanks!

I have a friend that rents a Harley rather often and pretends to be a real biker.

I don't think they charge extra for the parts that fall off while he is out vibrating around town.

You can rent GoldWings here, which should guarantee you will arrive safely and with all the parts.  They also have Harley, Yamaha, Kawasaki, etc.

Never used them but know someone who did and said they were OK and cheaper than most.

Met the guy from SportRyder back when he started this and he seemed like good people. Haven't rented from him though.

Eagle Rider in Irving has bikes for rent, daily or weekend. 972-785-2200 Sam   tell him Redneck and Hollywood sent you. They also have gloves, jackets, etc. for sale. Very excellent people.   1010 North Loop 12, Irving, Tx(not far from Texas Stadium)

Some may choose not to rent to a new rider.  One place here in Houston requires that the renter demonstrate riding ability before they are permitted to leave the premises, and I certainly can't blame them.

Most of the bikes available for rental are certainly not bikes I'd recommend for a new rider.  Is there a reason he prefers to rent a bike rather than to find himself a nice used bike he can get started on?

Thats right Lyn-Del, I had to demonstrate my riding ability when I rented a Road King in Houston two years ago.

Like, on a Harley, do you have to show that you can hold up the alternator with your foot when it starts to shake off while you're riding?  Show that you can see objects in the mirrors no matter how blurred they are?  Just wondering.

You have to demonstrate you can hold a bike up even when it is leaking oil near your foot.

That's right Dag.  I had a sporster that mark it's territory (and me) for four years.  They refused to fix it, saying it was "supposed to do that."   tickedoff  So I traded it for a Valk.  Problem solved.   cooldude

we rented 2 Harleys from them before we bought our valk, one a heritage softail, the other an electraglide.
they do require an MC liscense and insurance, and a good sized deposit, but thier bikes are very well maintained and ready to roll.
Other than just going out an buying a bike, this is a good option,

let's not slam the HD riders too much, if it wasn't for them ,we wouldn't be able to smoke im!  2funny
