ECU ?

Out on the road today buzzing along then there’s a crackle bang,

I noticed the pile pressure lite, briefely then the tachometer and speedo dead, I am like total ignition out

The bike still ran for a mile or two then out right died along with random firing failure

So I gotta say have I shot an ecu ?

Check for battery failure first.

Speedo and tach are on the tail light fuse.  A short in the tail light rear wire harness can cause the fuse to blow, and worse if the harness is severely damaged.  Definitely check fuses and the battery before replacing the ECU

On an Interstate that sounds like how an alternator failure shows but the bike should run for quite awhile on the battery alone.

Speedo and tac, wouldn’t stop the engine from running, would they ?

      Pretty Sure the engine transmission or clutch didn't crap out so start sorting thru the electrical issues already alluded to. Sometimes Not Always it could be a cascade effect. I HOPE it turns out to be a fairly simple fix. Let us know what you find. Lotsa help available from the collective here. Not Sure But IF you're on an I/S the big red plug in the right speaker pod caused me some issues years back. RIDE SAFE.

check all of the ground connections esp to the frame.

Dog bone fuse, or power won't get from the alt/battery.

Battery will last long time running the bike when you know it's not charging IF you pull the head light fuse and any extra power drain you don't need to get home (like using hand signals).

Don't do anything till you test your battery and your alternator running for voltage.

Just pushed the bike up the drive way that was a mission !!

I think it ran for about 10 minutes before it died, it will not start now


Looking at alternators,,   But I need to do some stripping to work things out


False earth may be closer but I am in sure

Just that

1 speedo and tac dropped along with oil light

Started to run crappy

Missing a bit low power

This got worse till it would not run

Yup, sounds exactly like the time my Alternator took a dump.  2 halogen headlights and 2 H1 driving lights pulled the power down pretty quickly.
