How many volts should Alt. be putting out at idle.  I just had mine replaced and am only getting 11.6 at idle, 12.4-12.6 at 2k rpm.  but getting 13.5-13.7 at highway speeds.  I replaced it with a OEM 95 Goldwing Alt. and clocked the housing?

some report less than 14V at idle especially if the idle is set below the recommended 900-1000  but as soon as you get under way it should be at or a tad over 14.  If your volt meter is not wired directly to the battery there may be a lower than actual reading but what you said you are showing is not right.

Idle should be around 12.3 depending on the draw.  1200 13.6 give or take.   1500   14.1-14.2

Mine sits at around 13.2 at idle and sits around 13.8-14.1 at highway speeds. Stock with 76k miles.

Most likely too late now, but did you do anything else to the Alt before putting it in, like cleaning/blowing out the brushes?
