I know this probably belongs in the classifieds, but I have found nothing in there concerning them.

I am tired of riding in cold weather without much protection on my legs, and I am very frugal.

I am looking for some used chaps, that perhaps someone has outgrown or gotten some newer ones for whatever reason.

I tried a pair of large and I think they were a little too snug, so probably extra large.  I have a fairly short inseam, but healthy thighs.

Anyone have anything they aren't using and would be willing to part with reasonably?

I have a winter riding suit I want to sell; the pants are size 38.  They give a lot more protection and are much warmer than chaps.

Probably not.  I have rain suit which helps immensely, but I don't think that 38 would come very close to being comfortable.

I can bring it to the meeting next week or you can head up here anytime Chris.  The only plans we have for the weekend are maybe going to see the movie The Wolfman.

I have a pair of leather pants, I can put them over my jeans and they fit loose. I wear 38w, 33 inseam. And my jeans are a bit tight. I prefer chaps, but that is just me. They were given to me when my stepdad quit because of his knees. They may be 40 waist.

I think 42 is the smallest I would want right now.

Thanks for all the responses.

Incredible!!! Shocked
Aparently, this guy had not even made his first payment on his new Victory when his chaps got tangled up in the drivetrain...

Or you could do like I did and buy the extention that goes into the waist of the chaps. Mine are long enough, but was a little snug in the waist. They make a extention that is 6 or 8 inches long that you thread into the back of the chaps. Or you can have one made wherever you know a leather shop. I had an extra belt added to mine to hold my pistol holster.

Fleece-lined 5-pocket Jeans

I have a pair of Old Navy lined Jeans and a pair of Sears lined jeans.  I highly recommend them; I wear them just lounging around the house since they are so warm and comfy.   cooldude

Many interesting thoughts for staying warm.  Thanks to all for suggestions and offers.

I decided to order a pair of new ones that were recommended.  Should have them in hand in time for riding next week to the Mid Winter Gathering.

Hey EB, if for some reason the chaps you ordered don't work out, you could check out this place http://www.antler-creek.com/ when you're here for the Mid-Winter.
It's located a few minutes from the Heart-o-Texas Inn and Geoff the proprietor is a great guy.  He and his wife, Lou Ann, will help get you fitted properly and his prices are very reasonable.  He also has goggles, gloves, scarfs, etc. along with batteries, oil, filters...you name it.
Oh, and Lou Ann has a hair salon in the back, so you can get your hair trimmed while Geoff trims your chaps!

Thanks, Charlie.  Really hope mine get here before then, but if not......

I did take a look at the web site.  Only thing I would like better is if they posted some prices.

Spoke with Geoff at Antler Creek about that very issue yesterday morning and he basically said that his pricing is at the mercy of his suppliers because his shop is so small.  Even so, the pricing on his stock on hand is stable.  What he does is tag each item with a "list" price and then discounts 10% - 20% at the register.

A trip to his shop is worth it.  The "store" is actually the remains of a front room in an old South Austin frame house.  Leather is stacked floor to ceiling and along all four walls.  Also, he and his wife have personally demoed most items he sells, so he can give you first hand advice.

I found mine on sale at Cabela's on sale.  I even got one pair that have a waterproof lining as well.  Plus the difference in the lined jeans and chaps is that they are warm in the important areas as well.

Moto Liberty in north Dallas will fit you for chaps (waist and leg size) then take you out to your bike to measure the length with you sitting on the bike.  I don't have any loyalty or interest in them, just thought it was cool that they would take the time to make sure they were the right length for riding.
