IMO just replace the entire headlight with an LED Headlight.
LEDs aren't halogen and are directional... if bulb hasn't been tested to work with the reflector housing (which I guarantee you has not on a 25+ yr old bike) then all you're going to get is a bunch of scattered light that looks bright, but doesn't send the light where you need it...

I'm partial to Eagle Lights... lifetime warranty and they are usually running at least 10% off, I think a little more during holidays.

LED headlight bulbs designed for cars don't work very well on Valkyrie. This one is motorcycle-specific.  A number of us have installed it and like it. No modifications necessary. I had to aim the headlight down slightly to get it just right. If for some reason it doesn't suit you, Amazon will take it back.

I agree. Eagle lights are a great quality and lifetime guarantee. I’ve been using them for years with no issues.

Putting LED bulbs in halogen housing is never a good idea, as others have said, it will look bright to other people as you blind them but it wont put light down the road. Either replace the headlight with one designed for LEDs, or replace with a quality halogen.

Joe, that's the way it was five years ago.  Old posts mention owners cutting tabs off auto LED bulbs or using some adapter.  Many motorcycle LEDs needed a bulky driver box.  The results were often poor.

In 2024, LEDs designed to replace a motorcycle H4 bulb work well.  Here in Rural NC, we need a good headlight and that Auxito LED is.  There are other new LEDs that are probably just as good.

Congrats on a Red Sox win last night.

I just plugged in this LED bulb as I'm preparing for a trip. I really don't ride at night but possibly will need to during travels. So mine is certainly very good for the money, but it seems like the low light dims when I push high beam to the point I'd be less likely to hit something in the road if I were on low beam along. The expensive Eagle LED head lamp I have on my VTX doesn't do that a all. I was wondering if anyone else noticed the same phenomenon. My bulb maybe defective, but I don't think so. When I toggle the switch looking at the bulb, it seems to be putting out low all the time. In the pattern on the road or when shinning up against my garage door it's really noticeable.

Try this, it worked for my bike. Mark a "front tire spot" 25 feet from the garage door. Install the old H4 bulb and wait until dark. Get the bike on the 25 foot mark and sit on it. Use your phone to photograph the high and low beams on the door. Install your LED "bulb" and return the bike to the 25 foot mark. Sit on bike and compare the high and low LED beams to your pictures. You may need to adjust the "up and down" screw a little to get a close match. Mine needed a slight adjustment downward. Test ride!

If the LED beams are aimed quite differently than the H4 pictures, you may not have a a good fit inside the headlight shell. If carefully reinstalling the LED does not change this, then that LED will likely not be usable on your bike.

Best of luck with it.
