NO not THAT kind of anniversary! Back on April 21 2002 I laid down my cigarettes And QUIT smoking. Cold tyrkey no nicotine weaning off stuff. And I've NOT Regretted that particular decision in the least. But there ARE after affects I'm still dealing with on an hourly and daily basis. BUT NO COMPLAINTS as I'm still suckin wind and with the G/W trike I Do git a ride in now and then!  coolsmiley As far as y'all go still using nicotin NOT preaching But in the long run You WILL feel better when quit. Nuff said! And YES quitting was NOT Easy at all!   Lips Sealed RIDE SAFE.

Dennis, good for you buddy. Spring of 1965, I tossed my half empty pack out the window on my way to work at Argonne Nat'l. Labs outside of Chicago. I was all of 27, quit cold turkey and never looked back. My wife had told me she was tired of feeling like she was kissing a dirty ashtray, and the stale tobacco smell on my clothes turned her off. Years later I remembered what she said when one of our supervisors where I worked in Florida walked past and nearly knocked me over with the smell of cigarettes. She was a lovely young woman and always caught your eye as she approached with a smile. But as she passed...oh brother, smoking in the open air outside makes no difference.

Congrats!!! God Bless you!!! cooldude

Wish my friend who did two tours of Nam, purple heart and now sits on a couch all day with emphysema had quit much sooner. Everybody where we worked told him for over 15yrs to quit while all of that time he had a bad cough. sadly he didn't stop until Doctor told him he had early COPD.

Congrats on quitting I know it can be a struggle as I'm on my 2nd attempt now.  First time I quit for 6 months with patches / gum.  This time I'm over 10 yrs with vaping.  While not the same as quitting my breathing & overall health is much improved by not filling my lungs with tar.

I have a rolling spreadsheet that helps motivate me monetarily as every day the amount saved goes up and the price of cig's is not $3.95 a pack these days so the actual savings would be much much more using current pricing of a pack of cig's.

Days Since My Last Cigarette   3,715.67
Cigs I've Avoided   148,626.70
What I would have spent on analogs   $29,353.77
Total Spent On Vaper gear / juice   $1,254.05
Actual Saved   $28,099.72

Date & Time You Quit   3/17/2014 19:00:00
Packs per Day   2
Price / Pack You Spent   $3.95
Total analog cost / day   $7.90
Current Date & Time   5/19/2024 11:01:03

Glad you have succeed at your quest to stop.

I don't know what or when any more.  Dad smoked a pipe.  I think I started smoking after I joined the U. S. Navy in 1967.   You could smoke in the maneuvering area on the Sub.  Don't remember about the carrier.

I switched back to a pipe in the 80's but when they banned smoking in the building in which I worked, I shift back to cigs.  say, 1990's sometime.  Then, around 2004 or 5 (don't really remember), I went and started the vaping thing.

I still vape a little but not like I use to (couple of reasons).   But, there is no nicotine in the vaping juice as of about 10 years ago.  I call vaping "oral gratification" ( and you can laugh if you like, but it is what it is).

Wife vapes with minimal nicotine in her vaping juice.

I use to be able to vape while riding but the vaping devices no longer have the needed attachment devices that allowed me to loop one around my neck.  So..... right now, vaping when I am in the house not doing much or when I the car. I care it with me when outside, depending on the task.

On road trips we vape in the motel rooms but are careful around the smoke detectors.  Had one go off once.  And yes I know vaping in the motel room is forbidden but I don't wear perfume, so it's just a trade off.

Again, congrats on the achievement - anniversary  cooldude

Really Appreciate all the thanks and encouragement here! Some folks like myself MUST come to the conclusion on their Own that smoking is NOT doing your body any good at all! And the COST of tobacco on the monetary side is beyond astronomical. BUT as I've stated Any individual MUST realize on their own. My Children and 1st Wife and my Children from 2nd xyl TRIED hard to git me to quit to no avail. Took me feelin as if I coughed up a lung to realize NOW is the time to quit And GOD must of answered my Prayer and KNEW I meant it FINALLY! So THANK YOU GOD For helping me become Smoke Free and Continuing to help me Remain SMOKE FREE. RIDE SAFE.

Talking about smoking, have you guys heard the one about the two hookers talking?

One asks the other... Honey, do you smoke when you're finished?

The other one looks down at her groin and replies... I dunno, I never looked.        Grin
