I’m finding it more and more difficult to say *happy* Memorial Day. It seems more fitting to say thank you or thank goodness for you is more fitting.

Just a little something remembering all those who have lost a loved one innthe service of our Nation.

We have family and several friends at Arlington.
It bothers me when I hear "Happy Memorial Day".  It is a happy day to be alive.
ALL GAVE SOME , SOME GAVE ALL!
Those who dis-respect our flag have never been given one folded!

THANK YOU VETERANS, ON BOTH SIDES OF THE GROUND  angel

I live right near Arlington National Cemetery.

Located on Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s confiscated estate; actually Mary Custis' family land.

More than a decade after Lee’s death, the Supreme Court ruled that the U.S. government had seized his estate without due process and ordered it returned to his family in the same condition as when it was illegally confiscated.  If followed, the ruling could have required the exhumation of all of Arlington’s dead, but instead, Lee’s son officially sold the property to Congress for $150,000 in 1883.

Arlington is the only national cemetery to hold servicemembers from every war in U.S. history.

I haven't walked through there in years.  Bad traffic all the time.

It cannot fail to choke you up and to be awe inspiring all at the same time.

Rally 'round the flag boys.

The older part has whole families and children.  But you have to really do something to get in now (besides get killed).

Been fortunate as I've been to Arlington Jeff Barracks and the Springfield Missouri Veterans Cemeteries. And some other smaller Veterans Cemeteries I can NOT recall the names of. At Arlington and Jeff Barracks and to a not lesser degree but Still feeling the Ghosts and Not in a BAD way. And I can Not help but wonder-would I have felt those Ghosts had I Not SERVED? Other than the Ghosts The Most Moving thing I've ever witnessed was the changing of The Guard at The Tomb of The UNKNOWN Soldier at Arlington. I Am Personally Famaliar with Some of those Names on some of those Memorials. I Am a Vietnam Veteran BUT I Never set foot on Vietnamese soil. I Flew near Viet Nam though. RIDE SAFE.
