A sad day indeed as Walter Morrison has passed away at the age of 90. A quiet and unassuming man.
"Who the h@ll is Walter Morrison?", you ask? "What did he invent?"
One of the most universal inventions that nearly EVERYONE has held in their hands during their lifetime, especially in their early years. An invention found in nearly any venue where people are gathered for comraderie and and fun.
Walter Morrison invented ( TADA! ) the frisbee!
RIP, Walter.

Kind of a update on Morrison no hes still dead unlike Elvis, Morrison may be the inventor but it took Wham O products to make the thing a unsaleable item. Seems the use for Morrisons invention didn't take hold it was used as a cake platter and then Wham O bought the patent. They are the ones that found that the aerodynamic properties were right for throwing. So the real hats off go to Wham O.

and I understand that the bottom side was sometimes used to separate
seed and stems or some such from other substances,
but then again I kind of forgot a lot of the 70's
If you brought a frisbee to the beach it was like magic You would have company
immediately, wonder if mine is still on the roof?

It was named after the baking company pie plates that they used to play with in college.
