Anyone,

I have a 1999 Honda Valkyrie Interstate that needs a proper diagnosis for a slipping clutch and possible transmission rebuild.  Does anyone know a good mechanic in New Jersey or Eastern PA?  Lower NY State too.  The local Honda dealers do not want to work on bikes that are older than 10 years.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you.

Transmissions in the Valk are somewhat bulletproof.

I'd suspect the clutch, specifically the famous revit failure.

Any  competent motorcycle mechanic can make that repair.

I did it and I'm barely a mechanic.

The only slipping clutch issue with a Valkyrie I have seen was caused by using oil with friction modifiers.  If this turns out to be the case, a flush and correct oil may reverse the problem.

I'm trying to remember the exact symptoms when my clutch rivets went, but it was about 20 years ago, so....

If I remember correctly, the lever was a hard pull in close and although it worked, the clutch seemed to slip some.

Like Jeff stated, the wrong oil will do it.

When the rivets went on mine at around 100k miles, there was some chatter when releasing the clutch.  There were some rivets that sheared off and became lodged between the fiber and metal clutch plates.  This condition caused the clutch to slip due to the rivet separating the plates and reducing the surface area.
