aerate the oil. air bubbles don't lubricate, so excessive wear and heat happens.

Why not just drain it and put in the proper 150cc and forget about it?

It may come out the vent on top (and all over the place).

But I can't say it would throw out exactly the amount of overfill.

I seem to recall with the bike level (or the drive unit level on the bench), you squirt it in till it starts coming back out.  I never measured milliliters.

You used the kickstand, didn't you?

yup, meant to have a couple of 2x4's under the kickstand to level it up.  That's usually what I do, but I forgot I'd set it back down on the sidestand after draining it, and never did straighten it back up again.  So I squirted oil in the fill hole till it started dripping back out, let it drip out and then closed it up.  Only after everything was done did I realize it was leaning over so much.  I guess I'll just open the fill hole tomorrow and stand it up straight and see if anything much drips out.

One 2x4 and a 5/4 board under the kick stand. When I removed the fill cap to help vent while draining, it BARELY at the bottom of the threads thus suggesting it could be a good visual level. VT1100C Spirit used the same procedure w/o shim under the kickstand. Put it in until it runs over the threads. I don't trust the kickstand position as a method thus I'm with Chris CMJ, I always use the given amount in manual.

Again I have to wonder why people like the fill till it pours all over everything method. Seems ridiculous to  me. If you must change the oil while the final drive is on the bike (I never do). Drain it, lean it back and forth until drained. Then after the plug is installed set it down on the side stand and pour in 150cc. None will spill out, no mess to clean up.

Just sayin

As a clarification:   150cc = 150ml = 5.0721 fluid ounces

I lean my bike over on the kickstand, and using a hand pump, I fill the rear drive until the oil is just about to start dribbling out.
This level seems right in practice, since it is high enough that the splines going to the drive shaft are continually bathed in the 90w (or wahtever) gear oil.   Make sure the two holes  going into the pinion cup are not plugged up with dried grease.
This is another topic of debate here on this tech board, which we probably don't need to start up again, admittedly.   Both ways seem to work:  the pack-it-with-grease school, and the continual-gear-oil-bath school.
But to answer your original question:   I wouldn't worry about 10 to 20 ml too much oil, but If you really want to make sure it's right-  just put it on the kickstand, open the filler plug and let the excess run out, with rags standing by.
