As a kid I was clueless about motorcycles I just knew they were cool. I always loved the look of cruisers and I always told myself if I had a crotch rocket I would kill myself for sure. When I turned 18 my best friend and I had the perfect idea, we went down to the local Honda dealer. He picked out a nice new 750 shadow and me? I didn't want the same model but I was a noob so I didn't want to buy anything to big either so what do I do? I look around and see pipes on both sides, I had to have that 750 Magna. We both then immediately put drag pipes, jet kits and airbox mods on our bikes. Suped up Magna, definitely not a great beginner bike but it was amazing fast and sometimes scary too. I still remember accidentally doing wheelies in 2nd gear... I loved that bike but eventually I had to let it go. Fast forward a few years and I found myself the proud owner of a brand new 1100 Sabre. Beautiful bike but it never cured my itch for power no matter what I did to it. I was hooked on that raw v4 power, so I searched and researched until it slapped me across the face, I hunted and hunted until I found my 99 standard, I drove 6 hours to Tampa and never looked back. I love the power, the sound, the comfort, the looks and comments from everyone who sees it. "What kind of Harley is that? The engine is huge!" I say "It's the Harley Killer". The biggest problem I've had with all my bikes is finding that elusive 6th gear on the shifter.... I know I'll get bored with my valk soon enough and then I'll have to hunt down a new bike, probably an I/S, lol. ValKrayzie 4 Life!

Howdy and welcome! And yeah, I get all that! Been riding a Valk for 24 years as of December, and the grin is still there.
My favorite was "Honey come here! This crazy guy put a Porsche engine on a motorcycle!"

I've had mine for 5 years or so, I've been on here dozens of times looking for advice just never took the time to join until now, it's a work in progress but still a daily driver. I'll never forget the night it slung a rod through the top of the block at midnight on I75, what did I do? I threw my oil soaked pants and boots away and immediately started hunting a new motor.

The "what kind of Harley is that" has happened to me too.
I laughed.

Hello and welcome to the board/group from the Midlands of South Carolina.
My Valkyrie is only 21 years old but I intend to keep it unit the end of time.
It was purchased around this time in 2003.

Mine are both 24 years old. That seems old, but I wouldn't mind being 24 (again).

similar story, in 1988 wanted a cycle after high school since dad would not let me get one in high school still. found a mint used like new 800 miles 1984 v65 magna but not have 3800 at the time so found a good used 1985 700cc magna for 1500 in very good shape, price was right. kept it 10 years til 1998 wife forced me to sell it since having 1st kid. 10 years later or so 2008 found a neglected 2001 valk i/s low miles but worked out the kinks and runs ok had ever since. always loved the v4 magnas though just wish I had the dough back in 1988 to get that v65 magna. doubt the wife in 1998 could have convinced me to sell that one?

Just got back from a 50 mile ride, I'm 72 and every time I climb aboard the Valk, I feel like I'm 27 again. It just never gets old.

Bout an hour from the house couple years back I Needed something COLD to drink and pulled into a handi mart. Kinda leanin on Phatt Ghurl drinking my cold drink and a guy walks up and sez-wow nice 3 cylinder M/C. Sir if you will step around here to this side there Is 3 more cylinders here. And I've been asked about what kind of H/D is this too!. And my 99 I/S was swapped out fer an 88 G/W trike. RIDE SAFE.

Had a similar experience heading home from Dubuque. Stopped for gas in Independence. Old timer filling a lawn mower. Comes over and is looking at the bike. Impressed by the bike. Walks to other side and says "It's a 6 cylinder?" He thought it was 3. Told him it was 25 years old too. Now really impressed. Enjoy times like that. Can't think of any other bike that impresses people like that. I am a Valk Lover.

All the riders I know in my area have Harleys, I say to myself if I had all that extra dough to waste I'd find a better way to waste it!
