Got in some solid miles today on my '99 Standard....Great weather, mid 80s, full sun....
Noticed I occasionally would miss turning off the turn signal.
The orange indicator light in full sun is tough to see.
(Yeah, I a dunce for missing this.) I don't have this problem when riding my VFR800....
But I have missed it more than I am comfortable, thinking ok, what might help?
Think about adding some kind of beeper in line with the signal.
Any ideas? Where is the signal flasher located?

I added the beeper to the flashing light in the headlight shell. That way one beeper covers both directionals.

I have no idea about adding a beeper to the signal circuit. (I would not like that noise)

I too (and for a long time) have a problem forgetting my signal is on.  Which pisses me off.  I've had self cancelling signal bikes, but no more.  The signal light is dim on standard or interstate, and I'm watching the road anyway.  The only time you can't miss the signal light is at night, and I almost never do that anymore (old bifocal eyes, hate headlights, and drunks).

So, for a long time, I mostly don't use my signals, I use my old-school arm (which stops signalling right away.  LOL)  And when I have to really get on the brakes, my left arm goes straight up with clenched fist (even though I have extra brake lights on both interstates).

However, on left turns across traffic where I'm worried about busy oncoming traffic, I do use the signal for safety and better visibility.  And left it on yesterday for 5 minutes or so.   tickedoff

Another trick I use, is to pop the signal on, cover the button with my thumb, and only let it blip 2-3 times (usually for just one car).

The cell phone driving, texting, GPSing, talking era is now well entrenched (despite the illegality).  You can no longer assume anyone is actually watching for signals of any kind.

My best trick for this perpetual riding hazard is to ride for space.  I go slow or fast to achieve my own space in traffic, and then work to keep that space, if I can.  I'll use the monster torque and go 20 over for 5 seconds, then ease off and ride alone, for awhile.  Then you get the guy in the 911 Porsche who thinks you want to race.   crazy2

If you fit one it'll soon get on your nerves.

I had a 1978 Honda CB750K that had a beeper that sounded with the turn signals.

I followed that years ago and it works good.

Although I need to replace the beeper as it doesn't  have the volume it once had.

As to it being annoying, that's why it's there.   There are different types of sound available I believe.

Somewhere, sometime, someone did a larger light mounted exterior of the headlight that helped with noticing the directional is on.

I don't like the beeper also.

Unfortunately Jersey doesn't offer the self cancelling Flasher module anymore. It works without any issues for me.

If the indicator lights are too dim for you to be a reminder, you may take the sub wirinng from a Honda Rebel 125.

Part Number:  37650-KEB-901

It fits much brighter and easily available T10 (non polar LED) bulbs and drops into the Valkyrie headlight bucket without modifications.

Best of luck!

I added a peizo beeper to my turn indicator bulb circuit but does require diodes to work properly. ST2  offer basically the similar setup as the Jersey's setup. I've have one just never got around to installing it yet. Mine was listed 2 yrs. ago for the Valk but no distinguishing part number to say its different than say a GW of them years. This is probably my last year of riding the Valk thus I would sell this item if anyone is interested. Still new in the box.

As a matter of fact I'll probably sell the Fat Gurl with stock/factory setup thus w/o all the detachable parts that will be available after the season is over. The Kuryakyn #4351 floorboards with rear adaptors are available anytime.

It took a few years. As soon as I trained myself to cancel the turn signal after every turn whether I used them or not. I found the Signal Boss gadget a genius member here invented. So now they cancel themselves. There are other commercial devices that make them self canceling. I would recommend that over a beeper.

The ST2 works good on a few Valkyries I happen to know over here.
Good advice.  cooldude

I didn't know it was available on your side of the pond, too.

Unfortunately you have to splice it in, so that's a nogo for all who want to keep their original wiring unmolested.

If wiring is done properly you can always return it to stock (for whatever reason) though still its "molested". Hopefully I can live with that if I wanted to think about it at all. Good to hear they work well on the other side of the pond. Haven't heard much if any feedback from HSN and here. Designing a plug n' play is very doable.
