sticky throttle first clue of gum gas damage...

Hope everyones season is going well!! I just finished a repair like none I had seen in the 27 years I have had my bumble bee Valkyrie.....Last winter I went through my back front to back service, a few improvements but mostly standard. I have had the bike out a few times it has been running great, 27000miles in 27 years.
Last weekend did a 150 miles with my VFW riders group and no problems, but had to fuel at a shell station in rural area east of San Diego. Put the in the garage (PS when I store in the winter I fill the tank with AVGAS, it does not go bad).
Yesterday I went to start the bike and the throttle would literally not turn. So, I removed the tank checked the cables, no problem. Disconnected the Cables. Tried to manually open the carburetors from the right bank they would not budge. Disconnected the crossover linkage and the left bank and right bank would not budge. The return springs were clean and I could not see anything out of place. Next I applied a long screwdriver and pried the carburetors and they moved but just stayed in whatever position I forced them to.
I Pull the intakes and HOLY CRAP They were coated in a dark brown super sticky gooo. Mind you I run two fuel filters. One by one I cleaned the butterflies, intakes, and carburetors. The fuel in the tank was awful. Drained and flushed.
I had only 231 miles on the carbs and intakes since the winter clean and while the bike would start fine and had run fine. The only symptom was a sticky then stuck throttle.
So it your throttle gets sticky check an intake. Check you gas. Check your fuel valve.

It sounds like you got a tank of very bad gas, like off the bottom of the storage tank.
I've also heard many times that you want no gas from a storage tank being filled by a tanker truck (or just finished being filled). All the crap in the bottom of the storage tank gets stirred up on refill.
