Has to be a reason why diesel motorcycles were never made.    I think the military made some diesel dirt bikes so they could pull up to a tank or truck and get fuel.    Why didnt diesel motorcycle engines never got popular?

I knew they had made diesel motorcycles never that successful but found this.

I would think Diesel would be a non starter since the big sell for diesel is economy and motorcycles by nature get pretty good milage.

I don't know - I've often thought that I'd like MY Valkyrie to be diesel (range being the BIG issue). (Owner of 3 VW diesel cars - 2000 New Beetle, 2012 Jetta Sportwagon, 2015 Golf).

Diesels by their very nature are NOT high revving engines. The very WHY of those older trucks I drove having anywhere from 7 speed transmissions to 16 speed or even more gears. And similar in 1 respect to 2 stroke ICE powered things a Very Narrow power band. Every Big Truck I ever drove had Only diesel power. RIDE SAFE.

Kawasaki had built a diesel version of the KLR650 single for the Army. I don't know how successful it was, nor how it would work out for "street" bikes. Probably better than "electric" motorcycles....
