Your new car is like a smart phone on wheels along of course with the black box that records all your driving data for a period of time.

This video explains some information on what it is and how to disable it.

Robert, I assume my 2018 Buick Enclave and Nancy's 2016 Audi doesn't have this?! I really like the Enclave, 2018 was quite a change when they went to a heavier frame. This thing has a great ride, especially up here in the Green Bay area where the ox cart tracks are passed off as streets. My '08 Highlander didn't have any rattles until after living here for a couple years, after which it sounded like I was driving a box of marbles down the street. Nancy's Audi has a shorter wheelbase and stiffer suspension, you can really feel the bumps. Cute car/SUV but too small for me, plus the bucket seats are too small for my bucket.  Wink

Interesting, I just read Ford will have a feature which will send speeding info and location to law enforcement in real time which then LEO can decide whether or not to pursue an immediate search for your car or to let it go. That’s a basic summation.

Below are 3 articles…but there are more if anyone decides to do a search.

This is all I typed in; Ford will have a feature which will send speeding info

I sort of wondered about the above.  I keep getting "service" reminders (based on miles traveled) for my new 2024 Subaru Outback.  I assumed they knew the mileage on my via the "interface" on the car.  Guess I was right.

I will see what I can find out about the data they (Subaru) gets.

This feature, like many other things, has two sides.
Like you can cut your meat with a knife or stab someone to death with it.

Positive. The manufacturer knows what's going on prior to- or during a failure and fixes this with the next modification or next generation of cars. Especially when this failure caused an accident.
This is common practice with all today's aircraft for instance.

Negative. Big Brother can monitor your whereabouts and driving style anytime anywhere.

And this is why I do not signup for the insurance company dongles that purport to "save you money".

I really want a car that spits speeding tickets out of the dashboard, with info copies to the DMV.   crazy2

Next they put in a credit card reader so you can pay those tickets from the driver's seat.   moon

I believe my 17' Promaster 2500 (with 12K) is the last 4 wheeler I'll ever need (or want). (no tracking tech)

And I can't seem to wear out either of my Valks.

So my truck and 2 bikes will be part of my estate when I pass.
