Anyone heard from Steve? Haven't seen any posts regarding DRU this year. Had a great time last year.

It's on for Sept 20-21-22 at Sure Stay Plus in Corydon, IN.  Call 812-225-7406 and tell them you are with the DRU.

We are trying to work this into our schedule.  We will miss the FCR this year due to a wedding and hoping to make this ride.  Been a while.

I've reserved a room, but... You know how it is with me. Still, now that we have the opportunity to make an annual event out of the Ladies Margarita Social Club, I do feel a strong inclination to make an appearance...

Was truly hoping to make this but, I've still got too many irons in the fire.  Working on getting all the things done but, it ain't looking good.

My "Mid-life Crisis "

« Reply #13 on: September 16, 2024, 05:35:56 AM »

With a sad heart and disappointment Mrs. Kep and I won't be attending this years DRU !! I just had double knee replacement surgery and the surgeon said NO Motorcycle riding for 10 weeks. He said it's because the vibration could comprimise the glue joints of the new hardware...I tried to explain to him the concept and  flawless design of the Valkyrie motor that does not cause such vibration and he didn't comprehend !! He may have seen a Youtube video of one with 6 in 1 Cobras (like mine)and came to his  conclusion based on that alone ! Needless to say , we are both going to miss seeing and talking with everyone. As for the recovery , it's gone well ..I'm just very blessed to have kept myself physically fit ove the last 64 years ( and I started to say mentally fit too , but I knew nobody would believe that one) , plus I am blessed with alot of drive ...most of all I've had a great nurse (Mrs. Kep) that got me through all this. Everyone thought I was crazy (maybe so) for having both done at once , but it worked out for the best. When I went in for pre-sugical consultation I was only planning to do one at a time , but I did ask the surgeon if he would do both and he said yes , your in good shape and your ugly enough that I would do both at the same time ...I was walking un-assisted at 2 weeks , driving at 4 weeks and back to work at both jobs.Hope to be back at full strength by 10 weeks....lastly , a special thanks to all those that reached out during my recovery with well-wishes (and birthday wishes, new knees, what a birthday gift!) knowing that people care and are thinking about you goes a long way in speeding the recovery process.. can't wait to ride and see you all again !!!

Aw, Kep, sorry you can’t make it! Congratulations on the successful operation! Vibration was not my first thought regarding motorcycle riding, but how well are you able to support 1000lbs at stops?
Any thoughts about caging down?
We are sure looking forward to seeing everyone in a couple days!

Gig & Kep,

Gig is right... How about caging down? You could then attend the LMSC with Gig, Lulu, Valker and me plus however many other members of the club make it... Based upon last year's performance, I'm confident there will be several all-stars returning, and the antics of this group overall is not to be missed!

Now that men can freely participate in women's sports, you can join us in complete comfort. BTW, if alcohol consumption is a problem of any sort for you, 'milder' options are perfectly acceptable. It really was, at least last year, a most pleasant gathering... Hmmmm. maybe you need to come to ensure it goes well this time, also! Maybe you could tell some knee replacement jokes or something...

Gig,

That goes without saying, my friend! Anytime you show up for anything at all, the party automatically gets a boost, and an enjoyable time is sure to follow! I'm just mighty glad you'll be there... Of course, I also hope it's cool enough for another blanket-sharing interlude with Lulu... with Griz there to supervise, of course...

No pressure being applied to provide any antics; you simply showing up will guarantee some delightful memories will be made... I'm really looking forward to hanging out with my peeps again... In a figurative sort of way, of course...

I’ve just put the I/S in mi casa, put the tourer in storage and said hasta to the fam up here in Michigan.  I’ll be joining everyone at the DRU, then fumbling my way down south for the winter.  Besides, I’ve still got a bit of tequila that need a home  Cheesy

Didn’t talk much to Roger (“Hi, How ya doing”)
Hal was engaged in Hal-type antics.
