Any day that you ride is a good day!

Moneta, VA

« on: August 26, 2024, 06:07:36 AM »

I made it home on Saturday from my West Coast cross country ramble (I'll post more later).

I finally achieved my #1 Bucket list item of riding the Pacific Coast Highway.

My route was planned to make it possible to fill in my map.

I have now ridden a motorcycle in ALL 48 lower states!

I know that many here have done the same and have covered many more miles in those states than I did in some.

Still, it's a small personal goal of mine that I'm a little proud of.

Evan, when did you ride to Alaska? Another great accomplishment.
I flew to Hawaii in 1985 and rented a bike to get my 50th state. I did that before Kim and I married in July of that year.

Mark,

Congratulations, my friend! No small feat that, and you certainly should be proud! Most riders only dream of doing anything even close to that, but you have systematically set about ticking them all off, and then you actually finished the dream! I imagine the journey between your ears and just behind your eyeballs was at least equal in length and breadth, and that your satisfaction extends far beyond merely coloring in all the states on a map. I salute you, sir... Well Done!!!

Nice and congrats! I've got Hawaii, but still have a LOT of others to get still...

Also have one Canadian province and (Accidentally, it's a long story) one Mexican state...

Good for you Mark.   cooldude

Age and endurance have put me out of the running for that kind of riding anymore.

And the Eastern mountains are more attractive to me than the flatlands, cornfields and deserts (by far).

And my own home beats the hell out of the el cheapo motel rooms I am inclined to stay in.

I did get all around Southern CA, and a little of Nevada and Arizona when stationed in Riverside CA.

PS:  Valks are great bikes, but that new Wing you have must have made that ride GREAT.   Smiley

Eric  I think it was 2012 I went to the Voai rally at town next to Rushmore (maybe Keystone or Rapid City??) That may have been the last one. Not sure but think O2Soon may have been there and some others in this club besides Taz and Challenger.

Then rode over the Big Horns to a town just up the road from Cody to meet up with Bear in the House (Steve Tiffany) as he and Allan were returning to Portland the next day.  We went over Chief Joseph to Beartooth, to Red Lodge across to Missoula and down Lolo and out to Portland.  Then I left them to join my wife on an Alaska cruise  departing from Seattle  after 1st checking out Cannon beach on the west coast

At the first stop in Alaska there was a rental place where the Ship docked. Spur of the moment I rented an 06 Wing for the day and Bonnie and I saw eagles swooping to eat fish and some great hiking that day, then back on the ship

So I guess I cheated like Serk lol   But hats off to Mark as he was alone the whole time

Well done. Thanks for the explanation. No cheating involved-that's how I did Hawaii. I did make my fourth trip riding to Alaska back in June with my youngest, Caleb.
