NoVa/DC Beltway/DelMarVa/Quantico area riders

Hey all! I'm just getting back from Germany after almost 4 years and now in the N. VA/DC area.

Anyone on here riding in the area?

Any shop recommendations???

I haven't had the best of luck in the past with shops doing good rear-end maintenance. Before I left, Attic Rat installed his GLH package and did a good thorough checkup --- what he found was my rear splines were worn down because the last mechanic had replaced only 2 of the 3 required gaskets.

Looking forward to riding the roads around DELMARVA and the Blue Ridge!

Welcome home Mapper.

I live in Fairfax County, and have used a master mechanic named Casey Harrington down in Stafford for both my Valks for years, and he is top notch (works on all makes and models).  One man shop.  He had his own shop, then was the lead tech at Coleman Powersports in Woodbridge for some years, and then went back to his own business.  He is always swamped during the riding season, so you may have to wait a bit.

He recently moved, still in Stafford, but hasn't been able to get his website changed to reflect his new address yet, but the phone number number is the same.  It's 31 miles for me, and absolutley worth it.

EDIT:  BTW, when I have had him change the rear tire and service the final drive, I've asked him to pack the shaft/splines/pinion cup with good grease, even though the Honda manual says only to lube with some (a little) moly paste.   He was happy to comply, and of course I've had no further wear as a result.  I do get some grease thrown out afterwards, but it cleans up and doesn't keep coming out.

We are not in Northern Virginia, but in the Norfolk / Virginia Beach area.  The Honda of Norfolk dealership is great.  They work on any year of bike.  They've worked on our bikes for over 30 years. When we lived in Baltimore for a couple years, I'd still bring by bikes down to Norfolk for any work that was needed. There are some nice roads up there once you can get away from that traffic. We've enjoyed riding the Skyline drive area through West Virginia and Maryland.

Thanks, guys! I lived in Norfolk for 6 years before heading to Germany -- I'm actually familiar with Honda of Norfolk, and think they've done some pretty great work for me in the past. That being said, I'm going to try Jess's recommendation in Stafford area. I usually like to do most of my own maintenance, but want to get an expert to comb over everything for me.

I'm definitely looking forward to getting out on the road some more! The mountains are much closer here than in Norfolk.
