Hey all. The Idaho/Utah group had a wonderful time at Valhalla this year as usual. Not sure if everyone is aware but there were originally 5 of us slated to attend. Myself, Greg Cremer, Raymond Hill, Merle Hill, John Liller, and Merle's friend Johnny (sorry, didn't catch his last name). Our ride up was interesting in itself. Johnny from Utah had a minor accident failing to negotiate a curve on the road from Hell's canyon to Joseph, Oregon. Minor scrape but recovered just fine with very little damage. At the Idaho/Canada crossing Johnny was declined entrance due to a 20 year old infraction that should have cleared customs database years ago. Still, they wouldn't let him cross until he had a form filled out by the Utah authorities, so he couldn't pass. John Liller, of the Idaho group being the kind of guy he is volunteered to ride back with him saying to me, and I quote "no man left behind". That's just the kind of guy John Liller was. We ventured on, sadly, without them as they turned back and rode towards home. They both made it just fine. John Liller back to Boise, and Johnny to his home in Utah. Sadly, Monday the 9th at 12:30PM on what appears to have been a joy ride, John Liller made his final ride to Valhalla. He was riding down Warm Springs road when a garbage truck pulled out in front of him. John was unable to stop in time and collided with the truck on the passenger side. Authorities said he succumed to his injuries at the scene. We are beyond heart-broken at the loss of this dear friend who cared so much for others and spent his life showing it by working at the local mission for years after his retirement. We will all miss him so much. God speed John Liller.
