I'm on my third Vredestein - 2 Snow Trac 5 and 1 Quatrac. 400 UTQG rating means sticky at the cost of longevity. Quatrac in 195/60-16 is $128.77 at tire rack.
Good reports coming in from the Michelin Cross Climate 2. Very similar tread pattern, but a UTQG rating of 640, meaning greater longevity. 205/60-16 is $179.99 at tire rack.

Good reports coming in from the Michelin Cross Climate 2While I can't report on motorcycle use, I did put these tires on my SUV and did about 10k on them before selling the vehicle. Tires performed great and my only stress in getting rid of the SUV was losing the tires. When I need a new CT for any of my bikes, that tire will be my first look for.

I just installed a Quatrac in 195/60-16 size, 400 UTQG on my Valk and rode all over Colorado. To quote Smokin' Joe, "It sticks like sh*t on a baby blanket" in the curves. $139.39 delivered to my door back in early August. I am not concerned about the longevity, because I usually change the rear tire at 10,000 miles when the rear end service is due. We only have 2 tires and if either one of them fails, it can be catastrophic. This is my personal opinion and not necessarily the opinion of this site or any other living person. Hay Jimmyt

Austone was also my favorite rear tire, was greatly disappointed to learn it was no longer available. Good information to know, thanks for posting it. Rams

Just my 2cents worth. A 400 wear rating is not really a sticky tire but maybe much more sticky than a 600+ rating. Sticky tires usually have a rating of 200 or less. Whether this applies to motorcycle usage or not in the context of this post, I don’t know. I’m seriously considering a cross climate tire for my Wing next but if I don’t start riding more, I don’t know when I’ll ever wear out the current m/c tire.

Ok a tyre/tire darkside update....
4 day ride last weekend 16th to the 20th...1350 miles...NJ, Del, Maryland, Pa, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, West Virginia, Western Pa thru north central Pa...lots of twisties and some dreaded highway miles on 81 South to Wytheville, necessary evil to get to the back of the dragon....
So my impression of the Michelin Cross Climate 2. Pretty similar characteristics to the ATT except for high speed (75 and on up) on highway curves, felt a little floaty to me...ATT was rock solid...twisties handled like a dream....could not tell the difference between the ATT and MCC2.
One other thing I noticed, just turning 60 a couple weeks ago, night riding has slipped to I would prefer not to ride in the evening on roads I am not familiar with, amber glasses help alot....
Anyway, my two cents...on a new rear shoes...Peace

I put new 205 60 Michelin Cross Climate 2's on both my Interstates a while back and they are the best rear tires I ever ran on any bike (MC or car). While they don't appear to be all that rounded in profile on the edges to look at, they seem to have almost no tendency to stand the bike up in leans and curves (though I've been on car tires so long maybe I just don't notice anymore). That UTQG rating of 640 may indicate a harder tire, but they ride soft and compliant with tremendous grip and water dispersion (though I avoid rain riding like the plague). 40PSI for me. And I have no noticeable wear at all. The number of fellow MC riders who see these tires and are shocked never stops being funny. WTF is that??!!

I’m going to be taking a good hard look and ordering car tire for my Wing and the Cross Climate is very tempting. I was out and about yesterday and upon walking back to the bike it appeared the rear tire might be low. Once I got back home I checked and it only had 24 lbs. It has set much of this year while I have been otherwise occupied but I believe it’s the first time I’ve ever had to had air other than just a tweak, in the 2 plus years and 12,000 miles of use.
I got a light and inspected the tire up close but found no punctures and I’m beginning to wonder if the valve itself may be leaking (I am using balancing beads) or just normal pressure loss over time.

You check the schrader valve with a bit of warm (dish)soapy water and look for bubbles.
And push it around, if it's not metal.
But all tires lose pressure sitting.

I run a very similar tire, the 195/60R-16 Vredestein Quatrac SL with a UTOG rating of 400. Very soft and I really like how it sticks. I usually change tires at 10k when I service the rear end, so I am not worried about how many miles that I get out of a tire. I ride the ole Phat Gurl pretty hard most of the time. I have over 160k miles on the Avid Envigor (Yokohama) tires, but they don't make the size for the Valk any longer. Hay Jimmyt
