I rode to Walmart yesterday.  They have forty-five parking spaces marked and numbered for pickups but no spaces identified for motorcycles or passenger cars.

I find this preference offensive.   Cheesy

I've pointed out the excessive amount of parking made available for pickups at Wal Mart, and other larger stores lately to my kids. They roll their eyes and groan, as they often do.

I was pleased to see that many places have set aside dedicated parking spots for fat men who like to grill though, so we've got that going for us at least.

I do, however, find this new trend of dedicated parking spots based solely on the color of the vehicle rather odd... Maybe I'll paint my regular car to take advantage of it?

The local Wally World recently had the parking lot resurfaced and remarked. They used to have a small number of spaces in each row reserved for senior parking, and they were closer to the entrance right after all the handicap slots. Since resurfacing, those senior spots are gone so one day I approached the manager about it, asking if those spots are going to be reinstalled. The answer...no! So I asked how that has affected sales. No answer, just a smile and walked away. That was my answer!

Unless there were a number of those senior slots open, when I went there I seldom used them simply because I don't need to. I feel fortunate...blessed...that I'm as mobile as I am. I often see people much younger than myself that need help unloading their shopping cart so I help. Every winter I see elderly but younger than myself, folks really struggling in the wind and cold trying to get to one of the distant parking spots. The local Walmart needs to rethink the decision re. senior parking spots.

I haven't seen any Senior parking spots (at Walmart or other retail) here. We (the wife specifically) does have a handicap placard (3 cars, 2 placards) and sometimes you have to scratch your head at what they consider is appropriate for handicap parking ( most Aldi's for example). And that's if they do have enough handicapped....

I have a handicapped tag on the trike and the mirror dangly fer the cage. The wally wurld in West Plains recently repaved the parking lot and while I am NOT sure there seems to be either less handicap parking spots or more handicapped people. I've been know to leave The Valkyrie and now The Trike on the very wide yellow striped areas as long as there is NO FIRE HYDRANT there. Far as spots fer Just Pickups I've not noticed or seen any. I have had folks inform me I'm parking in a non parking zone on those yellow stripes and I reply I KNOW IT! Also had local L E Os there tell me I'm good to go!  coolsmiley You see some warnings on handicapped parking spots indicating $50.00 to $300.00 fines for misuse BUT while that May be enforced I've NEVER seen it enforced and I have observed scoff laws.  tickedoff Carl-take yer truck next time!  Roll Eyes RIDE SAFE.

Our Walmart used to have motorcycle parking. Now it’s all for the curbside pick up. What they do have is a handful of extra wide unmarked spaces apparently for large vehicles. They are perfect for my motorcycle to park sideways so I avoid the large oil spot at one end. A truck driver gave me a dirty look once, I suppose he thought I should have passed and let him have it. It’s my little protest

When I drive my big van to stores, I always park out in left field, so some numbnuts driver doesn't hit me.

I don't know about you guys, but we have a large population of numbnuts drivers.

The walk is good for me.

Speaking of numbnuts, yesterday on the bike, a big SUV ahead of me swerved violently right and I instantly saw why as a numbnut was driving down my lane right at me at 50 (so a closing speed of 100). The oncoming lane was empty so I swerved violently left into the oncoming lane and passed him on the left (with some derogatory hand signals and bad language).  I looked to see if the driver had fallen asleep or something, but he just casually got back on his side of the road and motored on.  That got my heart rate up I can tell you.

"Numbnuts drivers" was just one reason why we left the DC Metro..... and never looked back. When we do come out to that area of the country (Wife's family has a reunion every 2 years up by Havre de Grace, Md on the Chesapeake bay) , We did (and still do) everything we can to avoid DC.

Life in KC metro area is much more sane....

Or, maybe just a small placard that says, I identify as a pickup, my pronoun is FU.

Might work but, wouldn't that just pass on the "offensive" situation to another patron?  Wink
I've seen some of those "People of Walmart Videos" before.

I also park out in "left field" when going to Wally World or Freddies.  It is easier to find a parking place and to exit the parking lot.  Not some much worried about getting hit, beside do need the exercise.

Even in our "town" of 20K, we have a lot of not so careful drivers.  One needs to be on one's toes all the time.   Lot of pickups and large SUV's here.   AND yes, I drive a pickup.

If Nancy and I go to Walmart together, I like to let her drive using her Audi. She's not real aware or careful, and mine doesn't get hit. She already has two scrapes on her car on opposite sides. smitten
