Have/had an aortic aneurysm and on the 24th Thursday after indiginity and more indignities finally went to surgery and the next thing I remeber is waking up in recovery about 1400 hrs local with tubes and a catherter in me. Now fer the fun part was Not Allowed to Move for near on about 28 hrs! And just about the time I'd doze off vitals checked blood drawn or mor injections. BUT I did come out the other side. This very thing dropped my Baby Sister in Feb of 2015 2 months before her 63d birthday. So a rather minor inconvenience considering What the alternative is. Still healing up and to close those incisions in both iliac arterys super glue was used-Yes THAT super glue! I do not Yet know the exact emplacements of both of the stents but I'll know mare after follow up on 13 Nov 2024. And I know NOW why the catheter was put in while I was sedated because it needed adjustment twice after leaking! NOT something I'd willingly sign up for again anytime soon! But as I sated I'm on the other side of this and Needing a RIDE! Gotta waith a while longer til I'm cleared to RIDE! RIDE SAFE.

Glad to see ya' posting and sucking air my friend!
And yup, during my medical adventures of 2023 at one point they decided to stick a foley catheter in me without knocking me out first.
...didn't help I swear they find the cutest nurse in the hospital to do it!
Never again. Usually I'd be quite happy with a cute young thing fondling me, but nope, not like that!
Sure hope you're able to make the ride to *Mumbles some city incoherently* for Inzane next year!

There wuz a rather funny moment before surgery but during an indignity. A Surgeon came in looked at me walked over to the coimputer and asked me are you George Lipscomb for hernia repair? Uh NO I'm Dennis Patterson for aortic aneuerysm stent implant. Uh sorry sez he wrong room and left. I looked over at my friend while the young lady was Still removeng my chest fur and stated-J T if I wake up with breasts I'm suing the hospital! The Young Lady and J T started laughing bout the same time. And the Y L sez I've been shaving folks prior to surgery for awhile now and That was the funniest thing I've heard in awhile! Gotta keep it light. Serk I'm planning on being at Inzane 2025 But you know the old saying-wanna make GOD laugh tell him yer plans! Sides you and me nd your spawn made a good team at the pie auction! RIDE SAFE.

Hey bud, good to see you're talking and typing. Re. the catheter, I had a rather unpleasant experience when I had my gall bladder out five months before losing Rita. The operation was done and successful but they wouldn't let me go cuz I couldn't pee so the dr. ordered a cath. The two little honeys that were trying to insert the fool thing got real frustrated since they couldn't get it to go in so called the head nurse. We had already met, a rather stern looking black lady that was all business but very food at what she did. She asked what size was being used and then asked for a smaller one, I assume that referred to the tube diameter and it went right in. While the head nurse is holding my junk and easily inserting the cath, I joked that using a smaller tube could be considered an insult to a man. She gave me a cold look, then while holding me with one hand and the tube in the other said in a flat tone: "sir, you're not in a good position to be making jokes about your joy stick, especially while I have it under my complete control." She then raised one eyebrow, gave a slight smile, then completed the job. She then turned to the two young nurses who appeared to be on OJT judging by their fumbling, and sternly advised them "ladies, next time you have one of these in your hands keep in mind you're on the job, it's not Saturday night! Stop and think about why it won't go in, don't make the patient suffer."
By that time I was feeling quite relieved so didn't care. The head nurse told them to apologize then clean up their mess and let me sleep.

Good to hear it was successful and you're on the mend Dennis. I hope the result is a great improvement in your life. That 'wrong doc, wrong room, wrong surgery,' was right out of Monty Python. When I got my vasectomy, they said 'we'll shave you or you can do it.' I didn't want anyone else shaving my nads, so I did it. When the nurse came in preop to inspect me, she said I'd done a A1 job. Then she called in 4 new nurses to show them. 'Wait a minute, I didn't volunteer to be inspected by all these women.' 'Don't worry about it, we're all professionals here.' 'Yea, well, having my man parts examined by 5 women at the same time is kinda new to me. " Laughter I was a lot younger then and afraid I might pop wood, but thinking about sharp scalpels and blood kept that from happening.

Dennis, glad to hear you're still on the right side of the grass. I've probably told this story before, but when I had gall bladder surgery, right after I woke up and the pain hit me all at once, the nurse walked in. She said did you go pee yet, and I thought good lord no, that's the last thing I want to do right now. She then put a cup down and said when you go, pee in the cup and I'll pick it up when I return, and I thought yeah, whatever.
After the nurse left, my wife was smiling and said, "you know what that was about?". I said no, what. She said that the nurse was deciding whether I needed to be catheterized or not and if there was no pee in the cup when she came back then I was going to get catheterized and my wife went on to explain the procedure. I thought about it for a second and told my wife to go to the bathroom right now and pee in the cup. She did and the nurse came back about five minutes later, looked at the cup, went hmmmp like she had lost a bet, dumped it in the toilet and left me alone. Good thing they weren't testing it for anything - that could have been interesting.

Well after catheter removal I had 2 hrs to urinate on my own. Already had ice water asked for a large cup of coffee and as soon as I drained the 1st cup asked fer a refill and got it and the Nurse got me vertical which was a bit more challenging than I'd imagined But as I'd stated been flat on my back fer bout 28 hrs. And I was able to do the deed in less than the alloted time frame and a few other times before my Friend J T and i were able to git back on U S 60 E and headed back to my Casa. I will state for the Record I had EXCELLENT care and I M O the entire Medical Staff from Intake to Discharge and all the time I laid there imobile were Helpful and Friendly. And B T W this entire deal was on the V As dime. More PROOF the promises made to me are in some ways are being kept and Honored. Cataract lens implans X 2 this stent surgery my C P A P hearing aids twice and my O 2 needs and a very moderate copay for my needed drugs and the V A took care of me on that laydown in 16? I believe. I've been BLESSED and Fortunate for all I've received. And with prices these days I'm getting Far More than I ever expected! And It was an HONOR to wear that Uniform. RIDE SAFE.

Weird observation while sitting outside in the Frsh air. Clouds takin turns shutting out the sun but more sunshine than clouds fer now anywho. The w o came as I was checking out the bruising on the inside of my right forearm. Couple og good uns there and what I realized was the scars are Very observable thriugh the bruises. So bruises don't hide the scars too? I wanna take a moment and Thank Everyone for the Prayers and well wishes and the fast healing. Pretty certain had I Not had this surgery I very well might be on the other side of a Fallen Brothers ride at the next Inzane. BUT I'm still suckin wins and enjoying the sunshine and breezes GOD is offering up today and many more yet to arrive fer O2S! Again-THANKS All! RIDE SAFE.

you guys have some funny and amusing stories on catherters. I have yet to have one installed, thank god but am sure my time is coming eventually, hope not anytime soon. I do admit the one 4 day stay in the hospital I had over 1 year ago or so the young nurse was very nice and good looking. She asked me if I needed help showering after the 3rd day and I politely declined. Not sure what woulda happened me standing naked beside a young 20 something nurse in the shower? Sure hope my right hip replaced over 3 weeks ago now is strong enough to endure my weight for getting left hip replaced Dec. 3rd. I will be titanium MAN soon enough and 2025 will be LOTS more wind in my face for sure since ONLY ONCE driven both Valks all this year and probably should NOT have been even once, was iffy able to lift my legs up (hips not allow movement) to even shift gears and down quick enough to support both me and the cycle at stops.

Cookie , I know you hear it a lot. Loose the weight. There are more benefits than you can imagine. Do little steps. Set a goal. I finally lost the last 10 pounds and came back from the hospital 12 pounds heavier. I am working to loose it. They pumped me full of saline . Many others on the board have lost a lot of weight. Your whole life will change.
BEST OF LUCK TO YOU.

There’s nothing like the freedom to be able to walk pain free, I’ve seen it with my wife. Now we can move on to her sciatic issue (shots in a couple weeks) and hopefully she’ll be good to go once her broken fibula heals, this is week 4 with another 4 to go and possibly another 6-8 still in the boot but free to put weight on it unrestricted.
As far as the hips go, when she fell she went down 4 cement steps and landed on a cement landing and no issue with the hips X-ray confirmed at hospital.

yah, my wife been nagging me for years quit eating those chips, quit eating ice cream, quit drinking so much sugary apple juice. I always was over 200lbs. after high school and 4 years ago had a job on my feet all day long walking, working hard lost 30 lbs. in one year, and felt great for sure one waist size, pushing 2, smaller loosing most in the GUT. I can no longer walk 10 miles or more per day as I did at my previous job, but gaining all that 30lbs. back after age 50 past 4 years hit me like freight train soon after somehow both my hips got shot ASAP for some reason. So yes, I still buy chips but try NOT to eat half the bag at one time at night right before bed watching TV and drinking less apple juice since am borderline diabetic. Exercise past 4 years bad hips has not been do-able but maybe 2025 will be better once bionic man comes. Had my 2nd to last PT appt. today and he said I will need to be able to support all my weight on my right new hip leg by Dec. 3rd left hip surgery vs. now about 75% of body weight on right leg. He gave me 3-4 more different exercises to do so will see how it goes next 4 weeks. Starting back to work though 5 hours per day next week might be a chore for sure vs. going back full time a whole 3 weeks then another 4-5 weeks off work for 2nd hip replaced. I just gotta make it thru 2024 and hoping 2025 is a piece of cake, although I should not eat cake either. LOL ?
