If the price on anything at all has actually gone down, it's a miracle.   tickedoff

My homeowners insurance bill just came.  Holy crap it's way up; and I wonder what it would be if I ever had a claim (which I haven't in 34 years).

My wife told me the same thing! But I wasn’t looking to buy, but still was hit with sticker shock. Just walking by the display made my blood sugar #’s go up.

Just saw a comercial for Kamel that said if Donald Trump were to win the election, groceries would double in price and electricity & fuel will be out of sight.
I didn't realize the Dems were keeping the cost of living so affordable

I hear you there, keep shopping around and calling several hopefully will get something cheaper, good luck..  Between car insurance going up and homeowner ins. going up with NO claims EVER besides one comprehensive claim over 5 years ago, makes me PUKE in disgust.

Also, notice how as the election nears and desperation sets in, the lies increase.

I changed every insurance policy that we had last year.

Unfortunately, the agent was from out of state and screwed me over royally.

I got into contact with a local independent agent and had him take over all of my policies.

He has been a Godsend.

He recently called me up and said let's look at your policies to see what we can do to save you money.

He changed my motorcycle policy to Progressive for about a 50% savings.

I told him that I'd had Progressive before and left them because they kept going up on the policy.

He said that they probably will again and if they do we'll find someone that's cheaper.

Insurance companies have no loyalty to their customers.

So, why should we be loyal to them?

Get a good independent agent that will work for you and let them get you the best deal possible.

Companies that write homeowner policies are taking such a bath right now in FL and other places that they are raising rates nationwide to cover their losses.

Jess you might do better to find a small company that only writes policies in VA or just in a few states where natural disasters are rare.

The grocery store is bad enough, but a walk around Home Depot is at least as bad. So many items have doubled in price that I'm not surprised housing and homeowner insurance prices are skyrocketing.

Well we have a taste for Reese's Pieces and I found 4 oz. "theatre" boxes for $1.25 at all major grocers and Menards. 4 x 4 equals 16 oz./pound for $5 and in long lasting boxes.  Grin 38 pieces per serving if you want to count!  cooldude And yes I'm diabetic to.

Oh oh oh, after Halloween candy 50% off at Walmarts tomorrow morning. We do this after all major holidays especially at Xmas as we celebrate after the 1st. of the year with our large family.

In the past, we used to use my Rams 3500 for our grocery trips (especially for holiday meals).
Now, the same money allows me to use one of my Valkyrie with saddle bags.    Wink

Obviously, the holiday meals with family are not anywhere near what they used to be.   Tubular Steaks are cheaper than Turkey and Ham.   Thank you to Biden and Harris for showing me how to cut down on meals. Roll Eyes

Serk's post and pictures remind of a Harris campaign promise to increase Corporate taxes.   I guess she doesn't realize that Corporations don't really pay taxes, they pass that expense on to the consumers who buy their products.   Honestly, anyone that doesn't realize that need to wake up.

BTW a semi serious note before this post gets punted to the nether regions of the forum - for those of ya'll with The Sugar, if you're eligible, look into RNY Gastric Bypass surgery (Just make 'em take your gall bladder while they're in there!) (NOT Gastric sleeve, specifically RNY Gastric Bypass!)

Not only the weight loss (Even rivals the weight loss capabilities of socialism!) but in the vast majority of people who have the surgery, your type 2 Diabetes goes into remission within DAYS of the surgery...

...just putting that out there as something to consider...

14 years ago (Almost to the day) I was taking all the oral meds (Expensive ones too!) and about to start insulin injections.

Now I take 1000mg Metformin a day and my A1c stays well under 6, and I eat all the candy and cakes and crap I want.

You got me there. Never heard of that. But unless there's a monopoly, price gouging is actually the marketplace at work.

All this talk about price gouging reminded me of something I read right after Katrina. A guy in the Midwest rented a U-Haul truck, filled it with generators, and drove to New Orleans. There he sold them for a few hundred bucks more than he paid. He had lots of customers, as people were more than willing to pay a premium to have electricity after all the losses they'd suffered.

Then the government got involved. He was arrested, charged with price gouging, and his generators were confiscated. Now people couldn't have electricity at any price. As Reagan said, the scariest words in the English language are "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you".

It was an attempt at humor.  When Kamala referenced in a speech her plans to address the issue she said, "price gauging" rather than, "price gouging".  Her plan, BTW, was specifically going after grocery stores.

In one way kinda happy I live by myself and the Children are grown up and on there own some raising Famalies. And I've noticed Me being far more selective and careful with food purchases. Used to get a 12 pak of Heiniken for right at $10.00 and the other day a 12 pak of Heiniken was $15.27. And YES it IS residing right now in my beer fridge. Wunder how much it WILL go up when a replenishment is needed?  Roll Eyes Milk bread fresh veggies pure maple syrup all have gone up. Steak prices per pound are what I USED to pay fer an entire steak dinner at a good steakhouse. BTW gas prices either side of $2.80 a gal round these parts. RIDE SAFE.

Let’s talk about non essentials. I bought a “kit” from Holley some years ago that has most of the essentials to install a late model LS engine into a variety of early model cars and trucks. It is very inclusive and quality stuff. The kit was around $2300.00 and they were really getting into the resto mod movement so they put the kit on sale for $1800.00 and I jumped on it as it was tailor made for my LS 1 Chevelle project.

Fast forward to today and I get an email from Holley and they were offering the same kit for the low low price of $3200.00. I know this is a first world problem that affects almost no one,  but you can be sure it’s indicative of everything we buy in manufactured goods and I’m not blaming Holley.

I just noticed that you live in Willow Springs. I stayed there (at the Comfort Inn) after watching the eclipse in West Plains. I should have looked you up.

I'm glad I chose that area for the eclipse. I parked next to a crew cab truck with 5 young (in their 20s) people. They all walked up, introduced themselves, and shook my hand. That NEVER happens around here!
