We live in a country with a lot of turmoil but it’s really not that bad. I just saw a tv ad for a company out of Lexington, Kentucky that will come to your house and decorate the exterior for Christmas! My wife tells me she has been seeing signs all over the neighborhood where Christmas lights are already up, advertising their services too. Most of my neighbors don’t cut their own grass so I shouldn’t be surprised they have their decorations installed by a service company too.

Entrepreneurship, capitalism, and free enterprise at its best I suppose. No wonder people are trekking hundreds of miles with all their worldly possessions in a bag to come to the land of “opportunity”!

Indeed we are. Just have a nice long sit down with someone from any of the Central American countries and you'll soon realize how blessed and secure we really are. It may not seem so to us but try to look past our 1st. world problems and see what others have to endure on a daily basis.

That doesn't mean we as a country need to open the flood gates letting anyone seeking this way of life into the USA. There are too many people out there wishing to do us harm. Vetting at boarder crossings is necessary and that doesn't mean, come on in and we'll have a court date in 6 months to decide if you can stay.

I quit all that lights and decorations thing years ago.  Work to do, work to undo (usually in the cold).

I've still got 40 strings of those minilights (and other stuff) in boxes out in my shed.  I should give them away.

Inside, I have a large silk flower and vines arrangement on a stand decorated with one string of lights.  At Christmas, I plug it in.  Done.   2funny

Indeed, I am blessed.  I have a friend who I am sure is just looking for an opportunity to come down and put up all of my wife's Christmas decorations.   Just curious, when do you think you'll get here?

Am I blessed? Yes!

I sometimes joke with those that don't know me when they ask about how I ended up getting married late in life. I tell them I never expected to find a 45 yr. old blonde that would be the least bit interested in an old fart like me. I then say it turned out I was absolutely right so married one that was 80.  Grin

I guess I am blessed because even though I was born in the mid-1940's I can still put up our Christmas Decorations.  The only thing I cannot do safely is climb on the roof of our house.

Our decorations include around the front door, all round the front porch railing and strings around each of the three lamp posts that line the drive way.

When I built house I included a switch that allows all of these lights to be turned on from a single switch.   (well the lamp post lights are "triggered" separately). Oh, the Christmas Tree lights are also triggered separately.

Feeling truly blessed.  And it is this time of the year where I feel it the most as one has more reflection.

But the lights, yes.  Not climbing any ladders though.  I live back off the main road a bit and am still using a bit of old school lights (incandescent bulbs).  It just lightens my mood coming home in the dark.

We had a 30' pine tree by our house, I would put lights on it.  Not to the top by 20' up or so using a step latter and a long pole.  This tree was removed a couple years ago due to being too close to the house and causing problems.  So, now I put rope lights around the railing on our porch.  Neighbors like it.

Even though it hasn't felt like it over the last few years, As Americans we are truly blessed.

The vast majority of Americans, even the poorest, have more than 70% of the worlds population.

We enjoy more freedoms than people in most other countries.

We have plenty of enemies both foreign and domestic who would like nothing more than to take that away from us.

Just one more reason that I am glad the woke left did not prevail in this years election.

Some will never admit it, but we are all Blessed because of it.

Love Christmas hate putting up lights. The companies here that put up lights and take them down have been booked months in advance.
