https://www.cycleworld.com/blogs/ask-kevin/honda-electric-supercharger-v3-concept-explained/

""The water-cooled 75-degree V3 engine is being newly developed for larger displacement motorcycles, and has been designed to be extremely slim and compact. It features the world’s first electrical compressor for motorcycles, which is able to control compression of the intake air irrespective of engine rpm, meaning that high-response torque can be delivered even from lower rpm. In addition, the electrical compressor allows a high degree of freedom of layout of all components in the limited space available on a motorcycle and efficient centralization of mass. It also does not require any form of intercooler. ""

Wow that is exciting and the possibilities are endless. The hurdles of doing this are many and it seems little by little they are making it possible. Imagine the aftermarket, now you have 5 PSI of boost and they get their hands on it and at the flick of a switch you have 10PSI of boost effectivly almost doubling your hp.

You really would not want that kind of power coming on in a turn though. That could be the end of you and the bike.

yep. what is interesting is the type of electric motor they are using, the rotor has zero windings.

The power required and the speed at which it would have to turn is daunting for any motor. I know of no other motor that could get up to 100k in an instant. Turbos will regularly spool up to 100 to 150k.

When I saw it on the race cars I wondered if they could ever adapt it to passenger cars. It looks like they are starting but have a long way to go.
